WHITE WORKING DOG - IS THIS A PROB???

Recommended Posts

Hi Lads

Just wandering if the colour of a dog makes a difference?

As my Collie / Whippet / Greyhound pup is White.

Would his quarry spot him a mile off whilst lamping etc?

Have any of you owned a good Working white dog?

I would appreciate your views

itll only be a problem if you dislike white dogs

This is the problem with old poaching books, too much shite in them. A good dogs a good dog a bad dog is a bad dog no matter the colour.

Is it too late to take your pup back and change it for a dark coloured one?

Only joking Grubsy, this topic comes up at regular intervals and I think you know the answer to your questions. After all if you

thought that a white dog was going to be handicapped because of it's colour you wouldn't have bought it.

My answers would be,- no, no and yes.

Ive owned one very good white bitch and seen a good few white dogs that were good honest workers, the only down side with them is they do tend to stand out more in daylight, only a problem if you arent on permission i suppose though, black dogs [my current dog is black]also seem to stand out just as much as a white in daylight.
