I hope khan gets knocked tha f**k out!!! :black eye:

Yep the apparent 'accidental' clash of heads.   Even Robin read is saying he looked very amateur!

....ok

The reality is the referee and doc would have been asking Mccloskey a,is his vision being affected....and b,does he want to continue......any fighter in that position would be pleading and begging to continue,Mccloskey wasnt !....if you notice,it wasnt until Mcloskey saw his corner and dopey Barry Hearn jumping about shouting that he started protesting.

He lost every round clearly, although without doubt was an awkward and competetive opponent but never looked capable of either outboxing or outpunching Khan....its all too easy to get brave after a fights been stopped and start saying you would have knocked him out eventually.

That said i thought Khan looked poor, footwork is so important when fighting a southpaw and Khans was awful he was back to the old rushing in windmill stuff if he performs like that against a world class fighter he will come unstuck.

As regards a rematch....boxings not about doing favours,he won the fight clearly,no the cut wasnt bad enough to stop the fight but controversial endings happen this is not the first and wont be the last.

I agree with that apart from the first bit. I think McCloskey had every right to feel robbed of his chance at a world title, there's no chance he'll get another crack and he knows that. The fight shouldn't of been stopped there, whether he lost every second of every round before it was called off doesn't make a difference, you just never know what will happen.

Khan won everything, but he was made to look mediocre IMO. Whether it was an off day for Khan or McCloskey made him look so so I don't know? but I don't think we should bash him too much for it. Every fighter has an off day, most fighters including the greats have had more than one poor showing so I'm not willing to hammer Khan for the performance too much.

As far as a rematch goes, :nono: McCloskey's got no chance. The fact is that Amir done him a favour giving him a crack in the first place so it ain't going to happen. Whether Amir is good enough to beat the very best remains to be seen but the likes of McCloskey isn't the level of fighter he should be aiming at, he should be aiming higher than him and the big fights is what he should be going for.

Dont agree with what, did you see Mccloskey protesting to the doc and ref,i didnt...i think he saw it as a creditable out he knew he had lost everything, only he knew what he had left in the tank, the fact he wasnt trying to convince the ref and doc he was ok is maybe a good indicator......the fact both Mccloskey and his corner became irate after the event is par for the course.

I agree Khan should be aiming higher, this was a voluntary defence he neednt have taken.I cant see Khan getting past Bradley at this stage, and certainly not moving up just yet....maybe it was just an awkward southpaw but Khan definately looked to have gone a few steps backwards, even his conditioning didnt look as good as his last few fights.

This wasn't a kids amateur fight at the local leisure centre :wallbash:

It was a world title fight between two men ranked in the world top ten for the 10 stone division.

Stopping it for a cut that size!? Do me a favour!

Khan was always going to win and is a class act but stopping it for a cut that size is utterly shambolic.

in my oppinion if you consider khan to be a top boxer you know nothing about boxing ,ive seen better amature fights over the years and yes i boxed my self for a lot of years ,he hasnt you a solid chin and thats what will let him down you nedd not to have a glass jaw and you need a heart like some one like ricky hatting in his hay day which kan doesnt have ,if he was to come up to go against mayweather it would last seconds no contest at all

i went to watch fight, it was poor... best thing was atmosphere...mcloscky had great fans, and considering there was bout 10.000 pakis in there they couldnt be heard...i think alot of the fans there were shocked when it was stopped, but it is how it goes  would of liked to see it carry on as i thought mcloscky was getting more confident  ....personally dont think kahn has any pride tho...and would love to see arrogant prick knocked out.. that wasnt a world class performance by him like he keeps saying

Baz was it packed out or not ? i was on the verge of going myself till i saw the undercard wasnt all that....the MEN usually makes for a good atmosphere as they have the space to do all the fireworks and razzamataz  ....if its atmosphere you want nothing in my opinion comes close in England to the York Hall Bethnal Green your right on top of the ring even from the balconies it feels like your in the ring.

These sorts of replies make me laugh.

Khan is a top boxer, maybe not THE best in the division but he is ONE OF the better fighters in the division even with his faults and frailties. You can't base an opinion of a fighter on how well you think he'd do against one of the most talented fighters ever (Mayweather) who's not even fighting in the same weight division, that's just ridiculous. We've got to rate him alongside who there is about in his weight division now (light welter).

Khan hasn't got a good chin we all know that, but it didn't let him down against Maidana who was a noted puncher, I think he's learned a lot under Roache's wing, and he now knows what to do when his head does get buzzed, he knows how to survive. Khan showed he had a fighting spirit to fight back once he was rocked to his boots (which he was, and more than once in that fight) so what you're saying doesn't really hold up IMO.

Dont agree with what...

I don't agree that McCloskey wanted a way out, He was never in any trouble or hurt at all up until that point to want to bail out. If anything I thought Amir was slowing down a bit, And as the fight went on it was looking better for McCloskey IMO. Saying that I wasn't convinced he'd win, I just think he'd of provided more of a challenge as the bout went on, and more importantly he should of been given the chance to do so.

With McCloskey not complaining??? I thought he was? It could of been confusion on his part initially? You more than anyone on here must know what it can be like when heads come thundering together sometimes. From my own experiences I've found it can be quite confusing to say the least lol.

Still it is what it is, McCloskey had his chance and it didn't happen for him.

I thought Watson boxed well until Purdy caught him :o Good shot that was. Now that's a fight that I think deserves to happen again (If Watson wants it).

Munroe was a let down I thought.
