"Earth!" 503
Every scrapper I have seen has been a coward when it comes to real work. Hgad a black and tan who tried to take chunks out of my pointer a couple of times who turned into a shitebag from a work perspective. I would not tolerate it. There's better out there so why hold on to a liability. FTB yep, same as that.. ive found those that want to buly other terriers etc, when in the ground to something that will bite back and stand its ground wont tollerate it and spew BUT i know of a couple of terriers that are just nasty b*****ds above and below. personally, i too would not tollerate it,its a pain in the arse. skycat 6,173
Every scrapper I have seen has been a coward when it comes to real work. Hgad a black and tan who tried to take chunks out of my pointer a couple of times who turned into a shitebag from a work perspective. I would not tolerate it. There's better out there so why hold on to a liability. FTB In my experience there's a difference between a habitual scrapper and a dog which just 'snaps' and has the odd pop at another dog. My black bitch is like that. She is now about 4 years old, was well socialised, but she isn't sociable, never has been and never will be. She is only really happy if she is killing something, preferably something which offers a decent challenge and fights back, if you get my drift. She knows that she shouldn't get into that mode around dogs, but every now and again that need to kill shows itself as an unwarranted pop at another dog. She has never been allowed to run loose in the yards with other dogs since she was about six months old, but she can work alongside terriers and lurchers all day long in the field no problem. I can actually see how stressed she is around other dogs in a non work situation, she doesn't like all that milling around between other dogs' legs, and unless kennelled a bit away from the others will develop colitis through stress. She's a very calm dog otherwise, and lives for one thing only: killing stuff. Don't know if this sounds similar to yours but worth a thought. A habitual scrapper is usually a coward, I agree with that, but only if the reason behind its scrapping is "I'll attack you before you attack me" and most often a dog is like that because it has been attacked when young and from the moment it is big enough it goes into that mode to avoid being attacked. Though some scrappers are just thugs who want to boss everything about. If my black bitch is left alone she would never start anything: she just doesn't like other dogs coming near her if she is the focus of their attention. Quote Link to post
Hagen 11
I have a uge barrel with water on my yard. If 2 dogs are fighting I throw them in the water. After it I have no problems with them for minimum one day, ...often for a longer time. ...This tip was by Mr. Booth, and it works. Quote Link to post
liam mc 18
Would agree wiht the bigmc lad but depends on what form of scolding he used, also if she a fear biter you need to build her confidence up lots of positive meets with people and dogs takes time and patience but sounds like she be worth the effort Quote Link to post

Rey27 83
thanks for the reply's & advice people!!! its difficult because she can be fine with some dogs & murder with others, never really know which its gona be until its happening ...but like someone has already said about there dog, shes not really into the usual dog stuff, sniffing the ass & all that, she never turns her back but could still be fine sometimes. a good example would be yesterday i was walking her with my partner & kids (she was off the lead) a guy was walking in our direction with a bulldog on the lead, she runs up to it, they start sniffing face to face (all seems fine) then she goes mental & goes for it twice before i grabbed her [& let her know she was wrong!!!] But like i've said shes worth keeping so ill just put up with it Thanks again Rey Edited April 16, 2011 by Rey27 Quote Link to post

Moll. 1,770
Every scrapper I have seen has been a coward when it comes to real work. FTB Had the same with a lurcher, a big lad, would run at a dog (only ever big dogs though) would not even check to see if it were a dog or bitch, young or old would just suddenly REALLY lay into it, seen him drag another lurcher his size across a gravel path on its side. He was a perfect dog till he reached maturity around the 2yr mark, prior had never bothered other dogs, never been in a fight, just wanted to walk by my side. I even took him to the vets, got the drug which replicated the effects of castration, did no good, contemplated putting him to sleep.....his aggression had escalated to attacking the dogs he lived with if he was on a lead and could not get to the strange dog he wanted to attack. One day an unexpected fox happened. When i got to where it was caught, from what i could gather it looked like he had stopped it, had got hold of it by the back leg, fox had turned and bitten his face. He was just stood next to where the lurcher bitch was/had killed the fox, showed no interest, and never did after that. Nothing to do with prey drive, he had heaps for rabbit and hare, just did not like getting bit back. I did solve the aggression eventually and he is now retired at my sisters and shows no aggression at all, even when other dogs get arsey with him. Quote Link to post
