Get her some Whelpi - I was advised to when I bred my bitch and I used it for her and then for the pups when weaning. I think it really helped to keep some condition on her. For the first three days after the pups were born it was more or less all she'd accept.

Thank you all im a soft shit i cannot see a dog in need and not do something.Admittedly these two are a peice of piss to look after theyre so laid back and they love other dogs and sleep with my lot and theyre the perfect house guests Trying to get one down to liverpool shes got a home offer next week when my mate gets back from holidays and i have someone who will foster her down there for the week. The other less is ready to pop any day now i think shes like a taught drum all over now and Shes got the clear discharge and plenty of it im having to clean her cos she cant reach it  Going out today and i will garb some whelpi scally wag as shes really in no condition to have pups shes too thin for a start shes only 14 months old so only a baby herself really. The sire was a fairly big dog as well so shes going to need all the help she can get.I need to go buy puppy pads which i hate but if she goes now theres no where near enough newspapers to cope lol.Ive found and been given some towels and old blankets etc shes got a double duvet just now to sleep on although she slept on the couch with me last night  Never moved an inch till 7 am then got me up to go out and came back in and flopped on the couch again. The pups will be fine shes my concern just now everythings in place if they dont get fed from here we have that sorted had my bitch and her to the vets yesterday for a check and as my bitch produces milk all the time if it all goes wrong she can foster them the vet wanted to make sure she was up to this and shes more than up to it shes got plenty of weight about her loads of milk and shes a maternal type of dog anyway but thats the last option hopefully the big yin will feed the pups herself but handy to have a back up if she doesnt or she cant cope.I have her on puppy food just now and chicken and someone kindly brought me lamb breast for her yesterday then wouldnt take the cash for it  So she should be putting weight on soon with a bit of luck unless she drops within the next few days which i think she might

Grabbed some nature diet puppy while i was out to add to her biscuit and its went down a treat she loves it added a little warm water mashed up half a pack and threw biccies in and gave it a stir and she ate far more and enjoyed it better by the look of it so gonna have to go on tuesday and get a shit load more.Think this should work as its 12% the biscuits are 27% so she should be getting plenty of protein now

 I might be reading this wrong but are you trying to bump up the protein content of the feed? If so, the protein content of two foods isn't cumulative; the present protein content (if you are feeding equal amounts of biscuit and dried food) as you describe is 19.5%!

To increase protein content you need to either feed a bit more of the 27% feed or buy a food with a higher protein content, failing that add a bit more meat to the diet.

Sorry if I've misread the intent of your post. ;)
