new dog first encounter

Recommended Posts

was at my grandas farm over west mead ireland over weekend and a took my new dog anyway cut a long story short seen a big dog fox under lamp so squeaked him in a little then let the dog off he smashed right into him was shaking him like a rag doll then all of a sudden the fox locked onto his ear he then pulled away after a yelp then he starting barking at him so i ran over but just as i ran over he got stuck right back in and finished the job off

the lad a got him off said he had been in with other dogs and never on his own does this mean that every time he goes in he will back off a bit then get stuck back in or does it mean this will build his confidence and will finish them off quickly

is it a bad sign for a 17 month old dog or does it mean he will get better

sounds like your dog got a shock and had another go when he saw you was it his first wouldnt worrie

to much see what he does next time if it was his first time i might let him go with back up let his confedence build up again untill you think he is ready might aproach them different more brain less bottle which i think will only help him do it for a longer time period
