What .22 rifle

Recommended Posts

Hi

Just got my firearms cert and not sure what rifle to get Im looking for a .22 bolt action

I'm mainly going to dispatch foxes in traps but wouldn't mind a good rifle that I can use for rabbit control on jobs etc

What do you recommend

It depends on how much money you want to throw at it. Typically new prices are £3/400 upwards.

Cz ,ruger,hw,sako, anschutz,cooper.

If you want a bargain s/h, look at the old cz bruno's, these can be had for little over a £100 s/h from a gunshop.

A ruger 10/22 .22lr is a nice bit of kit worth looking at if you are considering a semi-auto.

You can kit it out with a bi-pod, scopes, moderator and night sights (depending on your budget).

I have a synthetic stock 10/22 with SAK moderator.

It's whisper quiet and a reliable workhorse.

i have to agree, my quad wont extract unfired rounds still! changing the barrel is just plain daft unless you buy one of those scopes burris make especially for it, or re zero/ buy another scope. best go for a dedicated calibre gun. my alltime favourite is still my 20yr old anschutz

Aesthetically there are prettier and more refined rifles but a good workaday choice would be a second-hand Brno. You won't worry if you put a dink in the stock and they are accurate .

Mine's 28 years old ,has fired so many thousands of rounds it's worn out two firing pins (the only work ever needed)and still shoots a lot straighter than I can !.
