mad al 146
we've ALL blamed the government for as long as I can remember and that's a long time in my case! However, from what I've seen lately it's us the people who need to fu.ckin wake up and it doesn't matter who's running the country. An example.....OK, you're unemployed................no work?...........no problem, get an education, borrow the money to fund it with no intention of ever paying the dosh back...................qualify as a teacher for the nursery classes in primary schools.............still no jobs tho?.............no problem................get yourself noticed on the "supply" list and get paid so much fu.ckin dosh you'll only need a couple of shifts a week to have an ace life!......you won't have to worry about how good/bad you are at the job.........whether you are/will be makin a difference to our children's education/future because nobody in the education department will care a fu.ck because all they are concerned in is numbers and you are the one filling an empty slot! PLUS..............at the end of your shift, you have no worries about the children's safety/well being, whether you have done your share/been clean and tidy as you go/left the classroom like a shit hole/bothered to turn all appliances off/secured the classroom or even bothered to notice that the children have done most of their written work and eaten their lunch on the fu.ckin floors..............you'll be able to leave all that to us mere mortals safe in the knowledge that all that shit will be sorted.......................so with this type of education........ our children are gonna be good for? I think the teachers themselves these days, are in the front line now more than ever to hone this nations future but have forgotten their very basic life skills and are handing this down to our children without a second thought...............TWATS!! I must add that I appreciate not all are twats but it is an ever increasing trend
scalesntails 118
I have worked as a teacher and it's by far the easiest job I have ever done. The problem is that most teachers have either been doing so long they can't be bothered anymore or they have gone into teaching because they failed in their choice profession or they only became teachers for the short hours and long holidays. You have to be passionate about teaching to do it well and I enjoyed it for a few years but teaching the same type of kids the same lessons year after year following a strict curriculum kills that passion. I dealt with problem students easily. I treated them like human beings as equals so when they misbehaved a look of disappointment was enough to make them feel ashamed into behaving. The odd one that did push it was asked to leave the class immediately. I only ever had one occasion where a student refused to leave the classroom so I moved to another classroom with the rest of the students and he stayed by himself looking like an idiot. We all seem to remember our school days like everything was perfect. Of course none us us ever misbehaved in school :whistling: The only difference these days is the media making a bigger deal out of it to deflect from the real issues like the government stitching us up to help corporations at every opportunity. gnasher16 30,591
The reality is teachers are simply not respected figures anymore. When i was young we had some teachers we were scared shitless of,some we just gave a wide berth to and others we could get along with, but we never had any teachers we could take the piss out of like kids do today.Teachers just dont command respect anymore. A little fear of a teacher gains a kids attention, when that teacher says listen you listen, and ultimately learn more than if you didnt listen.Teachers today are a soft touch.Look at PE teachers as an example, when i was at school our pe teacher was a good allround sportsman and a disciplinarian, todays pe teachers are art or science teachers taking a pe class for which they have no real passion. Id love to see Physical Education increased in schools not decreased like it was recently, theirs a lot to be learned through sport,it encourages discipline and respect so it makes sense to start off on the right foot at school instead of encouraging fat ueless lazy kids with no respect for teachers or themselves....blame the parents yes,but schools could certainly do a lot more. iamduvern 62
It seems to me that all public sector workers are idle work shy twats who get to much paid leave over generous sick pay and massive pensions Council workers spend most of the day in the cafe binmen leave most of the rubbish in the road and when was the last time you see a street sweeper Coppers sat in their cars para medics refusing to come to the council estate with out police protection firemen refusing to go in to a burning building and don't get me started on the NHS Sack em all and privatise all public services

Stanleigh 135
My daughter is a teacher , works late into the night most nights ,and invests a hell of a lot of her free time , energy and emotion into the well being of her students , she is fighting a constant battle with financial constraints and apathetic and sometimes obstructive parents . It,s taking the easy way out blaming teachers , and by the way she,s small and petite but has no problems with classroom disciplin , maybe because she,s interested in them .
shroob 9
Have to agree that you have a dodgey view on the realities of teaching. I finished uni last year, took a semi-gap year off after with the aim of going on a PGCE (teacher qualification course). I decided not to do it - not yet anyhow. I got accepted on the course (which is highly competative, you can't just qualify overnight), however decided teaching wasn't for me at the moment. The hours are horrendous, the pressure intense and most of all, you're under-appreciated (perfectly demonstrated by this thread). Sure, the pay is good - but it comes at a cost. Times have changed for everyone not just children. These days you get respect by earning it not by expecting it. The teachers that treat their student like real people and genuinely show that they care and are interested what they have to say have no problems in the classroom. The ones who don't care and think the only way to get kids to listen is to shout should find another profession. Imagine if a doctor used the same methods and techniques he learned 30 years ago in medical school. He would be struck off. Teaching is the same you have to move with the times and understand different methods work for different people.
artic 595
f**k me, you lot must have seen some nice schools them. I'd say most of you, DON'T HAVE A f*****g CLUE. Someone close to me had early retirement as head teacher in a public school. Suffered from depression. I have a very good friend teaching English and is ready to give up after 8 years, both due to the lack of respect by the pupils and their parents! Clip of the ear worked in my day. You can be the most interesting, laidback etc teacher ever, the BEST teacher in the world, but with some places and some kids, there is way too much else f****d up going on that whatever your doing for that 1 hr is just white noise, and yer, sure you could get through to that kid, change his world view and break down some barriers, but while your doing that, who's doing it with the other ten like him in the class, and teaching the other twenty their curriculum, so that the board of governours and head isnt breathing down your neck about inspections and exam scores. There is a school up this way which has the public library and police station all built into the building, great idea if you ask me

Im sure theres some cracking teachers out there what im saying is they have their hands tied to what most of us would regard as common sense.....to me an art teacher taking a pe class is barmy !....the power of a teacher has been reduced to nothing, thats not their fault but the dogooding pc world we live in....years ago being sent to the headmasters office would fill a kid with dread now they probably dont give a monkeys.....the respect between child and teacher has gone completely so the fact that for most kids the first experience of real life qualities such as discipline, hard work, respect etc start at a school where the teachers are more wary of the kids than the kids are wary of the teachers......cannot be a good thing.
