SEAN3513 7
iv'e just been reading this 10m air rifle they is a shortage of medals for GB.........( 21st in the list of nations) we do very well at other shooting diciplines , but why not this ??? is it a lack of facilites ?? or are we just more passionate about hunting rather than target shooting ???? i know i would rather hunt than shoot targets but : we undoubtedly have some crack shots..........but why are other nations so much better. whats your opinion..... ??? mp5 0
I think that since there is a ban on hunting in India, People tend to move towards target shooting for using their guns. This is vice versa in case of Uk. Who would bother targets when we can hunt? In India we don't even have access to guns because they are too costly and several restrictions to directly import. . markha 99
I have a hunch its all down to funding, or lack of it. The Welsh airgun team seem to make up the bulk of the Olympic squad under the GBR banner. It seems that funding from Sport UK is on a merit system and even if you are in a championship position it still doesnt guarantee that they will give you finding. So you have to pay for all your own incurred costs of attending selection events as well as championship events either in the UK or world wide. Its a monirity sport, with minimal televised coverage and as such doesnt generate much money, I think Biathalon gets much better funding. Quote Link to post

Phantom 631
I love to shoot paper But there aint no way that I would wear one of those silly suites or use those silly glasses. Nor could I afford one of those rifles I have 9 shooting trophies on my Mantle above the fire 4 Golds for Pistol shooting and a few others down to Bronze some other paper punching trophies still at my former address and of course THE much coverted Cup from last years meet. I seriously doubt I'll retain possession this year though, as I've used a rifle only twice since my return from visiting Si and Lj in Germany. In two of my former schools, we had a range built specifically for 10M and 20M Air and .22 rimmy shooting its a shame that I never ever saw either of these ranges used by anyone Quote Link to post
