skinner 348
I suppose neil, back in the day when all was legal, and badger cubs, usually being born in february, were well on there way and safly up by the end of summer,i can see a bit of logic in an early morning,LATE summer dig, when the temp is down a bit,in my opinion there is far more damage done by so called terrier men, huntng in march/april than there is done in LATE summer,a lot of lads hunt into march and beyond,i cant see the logic in it,If some feel the season is a little short,i would say start back a little early rather than hunting on a bit late,by early i mean august/sept just my opinion the men out hunting at this time of the year have summer dogs that will dig any cub BUT will thay dig mum@dad at winter time yes mine will and in autum too Quote Link to post

mudd dog 128
every other field sport has an open/closed season. shooting. fishing. etc. why not working terriers???? why would any decent terrierman work his dogs all year round is beyond me?? i'f you work ground for keepers/farmers and you're getting call outs left right and centre, this time of year. HELLO.. your obviously not doing your job right during the season. yes there may be the odd occasion though, too many people keep hiding behind these excuses. not true terriermen if you ask me. just my opinion . Wake up mudd dog... from beyond a keyboard you are able to access other lads permition?? The areas they work?? i have for instance, one small estate(500 acres) but none of the surrounding ground, fox frequent the place alot but i have many other estates, more productive so only check the small place around 3-4 time per year. the other estates are vast and full of cover, some neighbour other places i dont have permition so again are always frequented with fox. cubs as im sure you know are not born and raised til the day the leave in the same earth... the keeper sees one cub or adult,i get the call to check out the whole estate..
