true countryman 0
with 4 days left to the show doesnt even look like they even have the judges for the terrier and lurchers finalised it suppose to be the premier gamefair i hope they are off high quality Thanks for your input. We have never claimed Ballywalter is Ireland's premier Game Fair - The Irish Game Fair at Shanes Castle is. As you are well aware we took over Ballywalter last year at very short notice ( two months) when BASC cancelled their fair. It was a huge success and this year will be even better. The Terrier and Lurcher events have a central place in the fair with their own superb race track, showing area and car parking. Unlike other events which appear to wish to be ashamed of the Terrier & Lurcher events and keep them outside the fair - we believe that they should be an integral part. We also provide innovative competitions and superb prize funds. It is no secret that Seamus Erwin the chairman of the MAWTC has been unwell and the mantle of organising the Ballywalter Fair has fallen to Secretary Matt Lee ( whose own wife is ill). I would have thought there would have been some sympathy rather than snide comments but perhaps some elements of the terrier & lurcher world are different to other branches of countrysports and prefer to criticise whenever or wherever rather than offer support. It is rather interesting that we have had numerous offers of support for Matt and the terrier & lurcher show from wildfowlers, gundog handlers and quite a few terrier and lurcher handlers! The Ballywalter Terrier & Lurcher events will go on as planned and with a superb prize fund. Normal service with judges already selected will resume for the two premier Game Fairs in their respective parts of Ireland , Shanes Castle and Birr Castle. I do hope all genuine Terrier & Lurcher owners will give Matt their support at Ballywalter! So if normal service is only being resumed for shanes and birr what is going to be happening with the judging at ballywalter, hope its not going to turn into a ramshackle. Nightlamper Sometimes things can come back to bite you in the proverbial, especially when so much time is spent focusing on disparaging other events for trying to keep our countrysports alive and kicking in this country. The Terroer & Lurcher Show at Ballywalter in spite of illness to key players will be like the rest of the event - one of the best Game Fairs ever organised in Ireland. It has the largest and best Sporting Village and that's only in the Courtyard, su[perb competitions and over 130 quality stands and your asmission gets you a FREE tocket to Ireland's largest and best Game Fair at Shanes! Walter White for Terriers and Billy Copeland for lurchers. I would like to take this opportunity to thank all those genuine terrier & lurcher enthusoiasts who have sent their best wishes and offered to judge if we needed them. Hope to see you all at Ballywalter and I am quite confident the Terrier & Lurcher Show will be as great a success as the rest of the superb show we have organised for the true country men and women. Never a truer word spoken Bill! I have gone to great lengths before to let you know that I am not Bill, nor am I involved in the organising of any of their events. I do have an opinion though and say as I see and read and that is why my respect falls with other events who take a somewhat different approach. I am yet to see either Moira or Ballinlough slate off other shows just because they create a form of competition. We, the attendee's of the shows, will decide who and what is best for us and for me personally I am not returning to a show run by someone who on these forums has slated me, just because he thinks I am involved with Moira or Ballinlough.
