chilly 59 Posted April 10, 2011 Author Report Share Posted April 10, 2011 Yes I gave her drontal plus 2 weeks ago , she is about 14 weeks now , will take her the vet tomorrow now see what they say , she is due her last Jab tue not sure if they will do it while she is I'll now tho, will try the yogurt if they don't give any thing to help, and try soaking her buiscits from now on Quote Link to post Share on other sites

skycat 6,173 Posted April 10, 2011 Report Share Posted April 10, 2011 Good to hear she's improving, but the longer the gut carries on being stressed and is bleeding, the more chance there is of ongoing damage and possibility of a permanently sensitive gut. Try getting some Tree Barks Powder from Dorwest Herbs: Google the name for their website. Also: put her on to cooked chicken and boiled rice until she is better: that is very easy to digest and obviously won't have any additives as you'll have cooked it yourself. Decided not to go the vet today going to give her another day or two see if it stays as it is now, going to keep her hungry most the day and give some pro biotic yogurt with a little food as suggested see if it helps keep it looking good , if it does return tho I'll take her strait the vet with a sample Seem as tho it is clearing up tho , and hoping the yogurt will help restore the health of her gut Quote Link to post Share on other sites

chilly 59 Posted April 12, 2011 Author Report Share Posted April 12, 2011 Quick up date, my pup is doing much better , she did start to improve , but I followed the advice given , give her some pro biotic yogurt , and she is on plain boiled chicken and rice , her stool has dried right up and is now normal as it should be , no mucus or blood, gona keep her on this for a week or so now and then slowly put her back onto the complete puppy food, but I'm going to soak it for her in future Quote Link to post Share on other sites

Farming puppies in large numbers is stressful for dogs and pups, and let's face it: he's hardly going to feed them top notch food is he. Got a pup from there once, heaviest worm burden ever seen in a pup. He said it might have got missed out when worming the litter! FFS! It was only a third the size of the others in the same litter. Sadly the damage was too great: never could get its guts right and was PTS at nearly a year old due to reoccurring colitis plus it went down with every bug going. Follow Steve's advice and when you go back to complete puppy food, if that is what you want to do, then make sure to soak the food first. Feeding dry to tiny pups is risky any time, not natural to eat dry biscuit IMO, and even more risky if the pup has had gut problems. Worm with Drontal Plus and don't mess about with over the counter wormers. Can't for the life of me understand why anyone would want to buy a puppy that was a third of the size of it's litter mates? That one's beyond me I'm afraid. I think someone made a rod for their own back here? If the puppy did have the worst worm burden ever seen surely it would have been visibly evident at the point of purchase? It's not clever to purchase a puppy which was - by your own admission - 66% smaller than its siblings? Just makes no sense to me whatsoever!!!! Quote Link to post Share on other sites
