GARY 76
Hi all Dont post very often but seen someone asking about red lakies the other day so thought i would post some pics of my two and a couple of there first litter she had 5 weeks ago. second pic's is the bitch who is 6 and been used week in week out as a foxing bitch both local and with the hunt. She is a good bitch who will find well, got a knack for getting them to bolt. First one is my Dog, just had his first proper season and done very well, got to take him out twice a week with hunt for a lot of the season, he's a bit hard but really starting to settle down now, Bred the dog to the bitch a bit early really but did'nt think he would last long and want to keep this little line going, Cheers Edited April 9, 2011 by GARY Quote Link to post

JR Yipp 111
gary, if the dog is very young and the real reason you say you used him is because he wont last long can i ask why you consider this a reason to use him. if you intend him to pass on his traits (ie a reason to breed from) why would you actively breed from a dog with an apparently very short working life. surely this would mean that you put alot into breeding and bringing on for minimal use and ability to prove worth. would a dog that has served 8 seasons 2/3 times a week not be more beneficial. it is not a dig at you especially but i have heard folk say this before and have never understood it or thought of it as a good reason to breed. hes a nicely put together dog btw. Hi Mate No problem and i uderstand your thoughts, the dog has only had 1 full season, and to be fair he has given 200% and worked week in week out because i was short of dogs, he did have a do or die attitude but calmed down towards the end, the reason i put him to an older bitch is she has a totally different style and think a mix of the two is what i'm after, + i know the dogs and the litter was just going to mates that will work them, but as always sometimes you get let down and people's circumstances change hence one been left over. As i say i like the dogs and the bitch is well proven and the dog is going well and at 3 he may be abit young but has certainly impressed me. Cheers Quote Link to post
