Some departments will do it if there is less than six months on the certificate. Simple to do, tick coterminous and fill out both shotgun & firearm application forms, you need counter signatories for both (they can be the same but must meet the criteria for the SGC) and you need to supply both sets of photographs (eight IIRC). Send off the forms and the plod will do the rest. However, a word of warning! Most Firearms departments are upwards of three months behind, some are quoting six months, which means you may be without both SGC & FAC for many months which will obviously effect your ability to purchase ammunition, both for the firearm & shotguns.
