kieran222 0
My 11 year old daughter has been asking me for a while if she can come out lamping with me so I decided the other night to take her out. I thought that she would get fed up after about half an hour so planned my route accordingly. I took out the 222 as we don’t have many rabbits around (think that it is all of the Buzzards) and I only shoot what I eat. Anyway we set out and we were out about 10 mins and we could hear an owl so used the WAM Fox call and managed to get two of the owls to come into the trees above us, so she was delighted. I have seen this before with the WAM, where I have had 3 or 4 owls come in. Anyway we went on a bit further and saw a rabbit, which I didn’t shoot. By this time we had been out about a half an hour so I asked if she wanted to go back. She said that she wanted to stay out a bit longer. She was now working the lamp and got excited every time she picked up some sheep’s eyes in the distance. We kept going for about another 45mins and hadn’t seen anything else. We were just back near my house when we spotted some eyes, I new it wasn’t a sheep or a fox, it was a badger. Anyway we kept the light on it and it came within 15 yards of us before disappearing through the hedge. She was delighted having seen the badger. Headed back after that as it was 9:45 and she had school the next day. Got back had a drink and she was asking about going out the next night? My wife and other daughter also said that they would be interested in coming out as well. I normally shoot on my own but I might have somebody to come out and hold the lamp in future.
