rossy08 33 Posted April 8, 2011 Report Share Posted April 8, 2011 (edited) Just this minuet got the Parker and Hale Dragon back together,,,,and my god is she spitting them pellets out now.<BR><BR>altho its heavy at an unscoped 11.4 lb and a bit of a pain to reload with it's big heavy sideleaver compressing the piston to a full power in a single stroke it got a very nice smooth fireing action.<BR><BR>The pellets absolutly storm out the barrle as if on a mission from god,to get to there target, cant wait to get out and test the accuresy and power on sunday.<BR><BR>I'm going to don it with a hawke 6.5-20-50 scope that i have nockning around and fit its dedicated P&H silencer, and see if it lives up to it stunningly accuret reputation...<BR><BR>be a shame to see this colletors item go when it comes round to selling it.<BR><BR><BR><BR>atb<BR>Andy <BR><BR><BR>Well i took the dragon along with me on sunday, i cant do a full review as i 1, forgot the chrono and 2, only hade one type off pellets to test it with.<IMG class=bbc_emoticon alt= src="http://www.thehuntinglife.com/forums/public/style_emoticons/default/doh.gif"> <BR><BR>will do a full review when i get the chance..<BR><BR>ok so it a bit long winded to load i find for myself that the lengh of the side leaver stroke is a little long. you have to fully open the side leaver then depress a little pin near to the trigger this closes an exshust valve that allows you to close up the leaver and compress the piston, if you dont press the pin in the leaver will close and not compress the pistion.<BR><BR>with one single strock takeing it up to full power it takes a little bit of getting shut as you would exspect but one shut you can get your self into fireing posision. i fitted the bipod to the dragon and got the cross hairs onto the target.<BR> the rifle feels......well just feels right when in your sholder...i could feel the antisipation as my finger reached forward to pust the "pins" release catch forward, the guns now in full fire mode...<BR><BR>with the first pull of the trigger i was shocked.... if i had not seen the dirt fly up infrount of the target and my mate take a few steps back saying <IMG class=bbc_emoticon alt= src="http://www.thehuntinglife.com/forums/public/style_emoticons/default/censored.gif"> me mate them pellets sound like .177 flying past,i wouldent have thought it had fired. no mate its defo .22....<BR><BR>i was also useing a few choice words about what i had just felt. i picked up the AAs400 and loaded it and fired a shot off. now my AA is good and smooth on the fireing action,you can just feel the hammer strike with a little clunk and it you can just feel it..<BR><BR>went back to the dragon and fired another shot, this time consentrateing fully on the fireing action light squees of the trigger and away go's another pellet at what seams like mac-10. nothing you cant feel a thing other then you squeesing the trigger,, the fireing action of this rifle is the smootest thing i have ever had the pleasure of shooting with,,,,passed the gun over to Andie (base jumper) went down range......theres no wonder he took a step back, befor i realised he had fired the rifle there was that unmistakable whooosh of pellet flying by.....can see what he means by it sounding like .177....so i walked back up the range...<BR><BR>well mate you cant hear it fireing when down there can you,,,,very quiet....Andies now fireing his custom air ranger....well it smother than my gun to mate.. very impressive..<BR><BR>was time to put the Dragon away as i dident have the chrono and the way the pellets come out of the thing its under lock and key till i get the power tested,,,,,well that and it was a stunning day and i wanted to get some bunneys in the bag.....<BR><BR>will do the power and acuresy testing when i get some better pellets to try it with.<BR><BR>all the best lads.....<BR><BR>Andy.<BR><BR>ps Andy if your Diana had a side lever like this mate theres no way it would have broke...<IMG class=bbc_emoticon alt= src="http://www.thehuntinglife.com/forums/public/style_emoticons/default/whistling.gif"> <IMG class=bbc_emoticon alt= src="http://www.thehuntinglife.com/forums/public/style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif"> Edited April 12, 2011 by rossy08 1 Quote Link to post

I really love the idea behind that rifle, self contained and no recoil to speak of. Do me a favour, if you ever want to sell it, please give me a shout. This one is a cracker with potential for another 2 more once i speak to the next doors. The owner of the new permission wants all the rabbits shot as they are destroying her cottage grounds. I'd seriously love to push this rifle to it's limits of what it's accuracy at range distance is capable of running out to. gurtwurz 792 Posted April 12, 2011 Report Share Posted April 12, 2011 ahh it aint so much flattery as honesty simon mate-you guys can really shoot distance wise, if i wrote a review it'd be along the lines of 'well it shoots reasonably ok out to 30m and then the groups open up like a shotgun blast- nowt to do with the rifle, the shooters rubbish...' it'd be a lot more interesting to read what any of the excellent shots on here could do with it, especially since they're not being sponsored by the manufacturer, like the magazines have to do(cant blame 'em, everyones gotta make a living i guess) cheers, wurz next up, what a diana 430 stutzen shoots like in the hands of a numpty...
