stubby 175
following on at my attempt to try a cheap night vision unit on my rifle, like many others before me, by using a nv mono on the back of the rifle scope Of course I needed an IR light of some description, rather than a dedicated IR unit, I thought about a filter to attach to my u caller lamp, of course lightforce stuff fits these lamps, but the price tag of £99 for the 140mm filter, nearly gave me a heart attack time for another "dexter" moment, with his trusty dremmell http://youtu.be/azXe6WdcRGs how can these companies keep ripping us off, if it can be made in a garden shed in 20 minutes, how can they justifiy the £99 price tag
stubby 175
well, tested last night, the lamp worked 100% as good as expected, it really does the job, my shooting partner couldent belive it, he thought the lamp was broke because no visable light to be seen, until you look through the mono the mono rifle scope attachment did'nt work as good as Id hoped, but I think I know why, just need to sit in garden and slowly figure it out, if you think about it, the rifle scope is set up with the eye releaf on rear of sight, Im then putting a mono nv on the back, which has a focus ring on front, plus its own eye releaf on back, so its sort of double mag and making everything a bit blurry Im wondering if I can take off the front lens, and maybe replace it with plain glass any ideas anyone?? camo304 3
What mono are you trying to use, you may have to much mag thus not focusing on the x-hairs most need around 2x mag 1x is better also make sure you have a few tunrs out of the eye-bell Edited April 9, 2011 by camo304

As for the trouble your having with mounting the mono the easiest way is to put a weaver or dovetail rail upside down on the mono than get a scope mount, put the scope mount on your scope upside down to the normal way, than side the mono with the weaver or dovetail rail on to it, you may need to make a spacer up so the mono lines up with your day scope. When setting up the mono to the day scope just use the two without any dsa cage or rail, offer the mono up to the eye bell and have a play till you get a good image, if you can't get a good image than the day scope is not compatible with the mono, this can be because the scope has no parallax adjustment or the magnification is to high. Hope this helps Edited April 11, 2011 by pestcontrol121

Hope this helps mounting is no problem, thats sorted and probably alot cheaper than with a weaver rail attachment, a PW member had already pointed me in the right direction concerning my blurry test run, and you'vre just confirmed it, my rimmy scope has no px on it, luckerly my work air rifle has a very nice px scope on it, which I always thought was a little overkill, but the bosses paid for it, so that will be getting swapped over at the weekend, and another test run too
