Tell me are they a common sight? And are they countrywide spread or certain areas. And do they nest on the ground, or in walls etc?

 

Yes, they are more common than what many think, but only on suitable ground. Basically rough moorland and heath is what these guys like. They nest on the ground and their eggs are very nice indeed. :) One of the cuckoo's favourite victims..... :yes:

Yes mate, probably one of the easiest ways is to look at its tail in flight. If the outer edge tail feathers are white them its a MP. Me and Buckshot had a few pairs between us and we tried to breed them, mine made a nest they wouldnt bloody lay! Most annoying.

I would say that, on your local moorland, they are the commonest small bird you will see. :thumbs:
