Guest oldskool
i think there is mate but it's like some of the other injections you get... they dont work all the time and some bitches act funny with them!!! theres a spray you can get to spray around her rear!! i used it with a terrier bitch and i found that it helped stop driving the dogs mad... my dogs turn queer if they cant get at the bitch... TOMO 26,689
the trouble is mate you never know when that first season will come. my bitch tara 3/4 whip/grey 1/4 kelpie hasn't had one yet and she is 18 month old. and Visa my older dog didn't have her first till she was 2 years old Quote Link to post
tote 856
The one most of the greyhound lads use is Laura Bollin it's given as a jag every 4 weeks.I personally would always let a bitch have her first season. Quote Link to post
skycat 6,173
I agree: don't mess with their hormones for the first season: they need to have that first season to develop properly. After that there is a jab called Delversterone, which is the male hormone: it is less likely to cause problems internally. Having said that any messing with nature has the potential to cause health problems. Can't you just kennel them well away from the dogs when they are in season? Quote Link to post

chartpolski 24,453
My lurcher bitch is now 19 month and hasn't had a season yet. I have heard bad things about having injections to stop seasons, so I suppose the only answer is to have a bitch spayed or keep bitches only ! Cheers. Quote Link to post
MickC 1,825
You can get a little bottle of Durateston a lot of the Greyhound lads I know use it.You jab them every four weeks with it to stop them coming in.There is also another stuff you can get that you can jab them with when they do come into season and it will bring them straight out,but I dont know what its called.I just let my lurchers have there seasons as normal as like other people have posted it can mess there hormones up.As long as your runs are secure and you keeep a close eye on them when you have them out you will be ok. Guest Paula
We had a greyhound bitch injected years ago to stop her season it was unbelievable, she lost that much form was really down and depressed and took nearly 2 years to get back to normal, i"d never have one jabbed again, just let her have a season, then get her spayed. What did you have her jagged with Paula? Years ago I had a greyhound bitch injected at the vets with a season suppresant that lasted 5 months, never again she lost 5 lengths and that was just over the sprint trip unless absolutely necessary i would stay well clear of those injections,i hear nothing but bad things about them, they take form away fom dogs Here's a first for you then brock, all the greyhound bitches i've had on Laura Bollin have kept their form, never had a problem with dogs running below par on Laura Bollin . brock 11
yeah it is a first tote, but if my greyhounds become top quality i wont risk ruinning them with a jab. Quote Link to post
