garfield 23
Hi all just did a quick search and nothing came up so i'm sorry if this has been covered before, but how much should i be feeding my 2 ferts(jill and hob 8mnth old-ish) at the mo there on cat/fert biscuits but i was wondering how often and how much they should be getting? if i let them they would just eat all day but my hob is getting rather large around the waist and when i move them onto rabbit and pigeon how much should i give them and how often? thanks in advance Quote Link to post
martnmagik 68
hello mate i usually go by one whole rabbit per two ferrets. this will last "mine" two days and i remove anything thats left BUT i only do this over the colder months, during the warmer part of the year i prefer to feed twice a day mince as i find they can eat it qiucker therfore less time for flies to settle. this is what i do as it suits my ferrets but may not yours. atb mart Quote Link to post
runforyourlife 361
there shouldnt be anything left of a rabbit mate, only the jacket. As they will eat the lot including the bones. If there aree bones and bits and pieces left, you know they arent starving. Get them on meat mate. Its up to yourself how much you feed them. Wether you want slim healthy fit quick ferrets. Or heavy low ferrets.... Quote Link to post

Kay 3,709
ok cheers lads i was wondering as to whether or not i could just feed em once a day as at the mo they are obviosley getting too much bloody hobs getting a right belly on him meat it is then cheers again lads I don't have food in the cage all the time because i feed meat.. there fed at the moment around the 10pm mark & i remove anything that's left the morning after.. they don't have access to dry food so they get there next feed at the same time roughly the following day have done this for years & have no issues what so ever with the ferrets Quote Link to post

ferretman89 68
i have two jills and i just give them a handful of alpha biscuits between them and so does my mate with his. They get fed this once a day and when i go down sometimes there are still buscuits left. If i can get hold of any cheap meat/liver at work i give them that as a treat, or like others say if i have had them out working and we get some rabbits i just chuck a rabbit in and let them eat that. Ideation 8,216
On a serious note, during the working season (winter), my lot fire through a whole rabbit in a sitting leaving only the jacket, or a whole phesant, it's great to watch it all go so rapidly. They eat less in summer, due to doing a lot less physical work, and not having to keep warm. Quote Link to post
barry lurcher 27
get some cheap beef mince down any super market 4 about 2 quid tht will feed a big hob all week and then some jills alot less hearts ,liver , anything cheap normally has more fat in it so its better 4 the ferrets as well good luck Quote Link to post
theferreter 311
i always make sure mine have dry mix at all times they also get there rabbit ,mince and chicken every other day and there raw or boiled egg and cod liver oil twice a week Quote Link to post
Rake aboot 4,936
I have to wait until the local yobs are being a pest ,making a noise etc, I throw one in and the ferrets devour the lot,,I find a 14/15 yr old last about two weeks and they don`t need fed again for a month or so,, so reckon on 7/8 teenagers a year, and they`re free ! 1 Quote Link to post
