A Break From The Norm.

Recommended Posts

Theres been a lot of talk on here lately and not enough action so I thought I would do my little bit to restore the faith in this section.I went out for a gander this afternoon to see what was about.Plenty of Pigeons about but not within shooting range.I try and choose different routes on my walks so I can maximise my chances of a shot.Today I walked the headland and hedgerows first and skirted my way back towards the wood, a Hare waltzed on by and a few Roe could be seen but nothing appeared to show until I got to the edge of the wood.A squizzer bolted for the nearest tree giving his position away,I usually stay still and wait for them to show themselves before getting into a shooting position. This one climbed a third of the way up the tree before resting on a branch to view his surroundings.I lifted the gun,put the cross on his head and down he dropped, this one only kicked for a few seconds before he took his last breath.I bagged him up and moved on a mere 10 yards when I saw another making a run for it.He had to cross 2 trees to safety so I knew he would pause at some point, it was when I would take the shot.I only waited a few seconds and he stopped side on giving me time to take him out,I shot and he fell to the ground still kicking so I dispatched him with another shot to end his misery. That was all I saw so I called it a day and headed back, was glad to get out and fire a few shots,as its been a while.
