rogue male 8
After reading the excellent Help & Guidance for Firearms/Shotgun Certificates by SportingShooter on this site i decided to take the plunge and apply for both. Refering back to the guidance mentioned above made filling in the forms a doddle. A two month wait and i had the visit from the FEO, which was a totally painless affair. At this point i had my security cabinet and ammo safe but had not secured them to the wall as i wanted conformation from the FEO that my planned site for them was ok.(which it was.) 3 weeks later on a wet and windy Monday night i had a call from the FEO saying he had both my Certificates and would bring them round that evening and he would check my Cabinet/Safe were both securely bolted to the wall. After reading some horror stories about FEO's i cant praise enough the service i had from mine. Within 48 hrs i had been to my local gunshop, Gun Room Ivybridge, and had struck a great deal with the owner, John, for a .22 rimmy. I'd read a great article in the Feb edition of Gun Mart Mag by Steve Henderson about his main Rabbit Control tool a CZ452 Silhouette. So thats how i ended up lying in a soggy Devon field this morning, zeroing in my new rifle at 50m with my oppo Clint giving guidance. CZ452 Silhouette .22 rimfire, 20 inch barrel, SAK moderator, Rimfire Magic Trigger Conversion Kit, Hawk Nite Eye 3-9-50 Ill Scope. 12 BORE O/U Shotgun next on shopping list. I would like to say that this site has produced lots of usefull info on a variety of hunting related subjects that have helped a newbie like me no end. Quote Link to post
dadioles 68
Well done, delighted to hear the good news. Hopefully you are grouping 5 shots less than 1" at 50 yards, if not, try a different brand of ammunition. My guess is that with subsonic rounds you are pretty much on target from about 25 to 55 yards but the bullet will start to drop quite a bit after that. Set up a target every 10 yards from 60 yards to 100 yards and take 5 shots on each aiming at the centre. That will give you the drop at different distances and accurately extend your range. Then you can decide either to use holdover or scope clicks to correct for distance. Enjoy your shooting. Quote Link to post
