chartpolski 23,150
its easy to say its in the aid of pest control but its a term used loosely,i am not a proffesional pest controller ,not even close but on certain permission they still like that phone call a couple times a week at least through the summer that your coming up that night with the dog,you are seen to be actively controlling the rabbits because for the run of the mill non hunter they are un-aware of a closed season they want them gone no matter what it seems, try telling your local green keeper ,see you in six months or what ever the permission will be short lived yes you can still shoot it but the results are the same, you are still limiting the numbers when the season hits, not going to go into hard baked ground, should not be running the dog blah blah blah, even through the summer you will get times to run the mutt. other than working the dog i dont really do much else,i have limited permission anyway, yes i do a bit of shooting and ferreting but very small percentage compared so for me its still a walk out, productive or not my batteries are charged all year round. right or wrong i dont know for sure but im fecked if im going to take up cricket to pass the long summer evenings,id rather walk the dog and if i get the odd slip then" "happy days. on another note, you lads up north seem to have it off every season with the weather giving you the best nights that lamping can provide, down here its not so good and every chance to run the dog should not be missed,iv seen some of you lads putting up posts with what to me are incredible numbers at times for a dog in one night,i may walk 4 hours and be lucky to get half a dozen bunnies, weather, ground conditions, just the holding area in general is not good by a long shot another reason for me to get out all year round, sorry for waffling on the stellas kicking in Not sure what you mean about us up north, but we had some terrible weather when we couldn't get out the house, never mind work dogs ! So a couple of months were wasted. The working seasons for dogs are getting shorter and shorter !! Cheers. yes we all had those conditions but generaly you get it good, maybe not you personaly in your exact area, trouble with posting on here ,everone is out to prove you wrong at all cost ,surely you know what i meat, hopefully No mate, I don't know what you mean ? Where are you from, if you say we in the north "generaly get it good" ? Cheers. herts mate, how many lamping with lurchers d,v,d s are out there filmed by the lads from up north, well im guessing it is from their accsents, wind blowing like a good un fields of grass few inches long etc etc,not written in fecking stone just saying it how it seems to me Not wishing to patronise you mate, but that is crap !! Do you own/work a dog ? Don't watch DVD's; get a dog and get out and learn by your own mistakes. It's far more fun being out there, than watching DVD's ! Cheers. no i dont own or work a dog i just made all that up,i bow down to your superior knowledge thankyou for putting me right the only mistakes i have made, other than all the ones iv made when running a dog was to think i could put a post up without it getting the shite ripped out of it,laters Sorry if you think I ripped the shite out of you. You said we up north had it easy; I replied and disagreed with you, you spit the dummy out instead of debating your point ! I don't know you, and have no reason to fall out with you. All the best. danw 1,748
would really like too know why the f**k are people still lamping rabbits this time of the year!?!?! all you could possibly be doing is killing next years sport! Maybe it's me but I couldn't give a flying f**k if people ruin their OWN sport by running stuff out of season so long as they don't f**k up my sport who cares. 1 Quote Link to post

mossyh07 64
I love the amount of people that think they are actually carrying out "pest control". I know some people genuinely do but i reckon 3/4 of the people on here just say it to feel important and justify hunting all year round. Each to there own i suppose. Quote Link to post
