darbo 4,776 Posted April 1, 2011 Report Share Posted April 1, 2011 plenty of hybrids to choose from eg isa brown black rock calder ranger etc to name a few. egg laying machines expect 280-320 eggs depending on the hybrid. plenty of good egg laying strains of pure bred birrds around eg- rhode island reds-light sussex-various colours of leghorns-marans-plymouth barred rock-white wyandotte. lay between 220-260 eggs depending on breed.sorry cant help with ducks never owned them. snipercp 0 Posted April 2, 2011 Author Report Share Posted April 2, 2011 hi thanks for the replies and i have done some research i have decided to get 2 or 3 female khaki cambells and a male khaki cambell my brother might get some indian runners and my grandad is the one getting chickens so i will get him to have a look. darbo 4,776 Posted April 2, 2011 Report Share Posted April 2, 2011 try to find the nearest supplier of chickens to the battery industry. i have done this for the last 20 years. eg in january picked up some isa browns[warren type] 17 weeks old. £5.50 each laying machines easy to look after docile birds lay 300-320 eggs. good luck.
