Yokel Matt 918
Its been a while since i've made my own nets but i got the bug again whilst patching up my longnet the other day. I've had the idea of make some purse nets for my godfather as a belated thank you for shooting trip and also knock some up some as a gift for some mates (ones had a kid and one just married... figure they'll both be getting out a bit more ) I've still got a spool and a half and 30 rings from the ol' days to keep me going but... as i'm bored off my tits... i thought i'd get the ball rolling. Just found some on the net advertised as 500gm spool for £8.50 and rings at 85p for 10... i'm sure i never paid that much for it... am i being a skin-flint or is this right? I know a lot of lads seem to use spun nyon now but i prefer the feel and lay of hemp... call me a sentimental traditionalist. Any help would be appreciated. I'e Quote Link to post
OldTrapCollector 377
Localyokel, Unfortunately that's about how much the stuff costs now. Luckily I stockpiled loads of rings years ago when they were just pennies each so I should be ok for now but when they're gone I wil be forced into the market as you are. If there are any cheap suplliers then I too would be interested to know for the future. I am also a 'natural' twine man but I will have a go with this spun polyester next the lads are all raving about, it could be just the stuff. I have used heavy green MOD spun nylon for fox nets before but it is too heavy for rabbit nets I think. Where's the cheapest and best for netmaking gear then lads?? OTC Quote Link to post
