Crewkerne Lurcher & Terrier Show

Recommended Posts

Hi All

Sorry to have to do this, but the venue for this year's show has changed. At least it is not at the last minute. See the new poster below for details. All the events are the same and camping still available.

Or for those of you who prefer little home comforts, the pub opposite the field does bed and breakfast, will be open all day on the day of the show and meals - what more could you want!!

Can you pass the word around because unfortunately there is something in the region of 500 posters and flyers gone out.

Many thanks

Sarah

Great, it would be good if all can make it. Weather looks set to be good. All"proper" classes in Terrier and Lurcher rings have a small trophy for a class win (to be returned) and JamesWellbeloved have again excelled themselves with the prices.

We have a couple of stalls, so should be something for everyone.

Will be coming again this year, it's definately one of the better shows in the area.

I'll be handing back the Simulated Coursing and Working Lurcher trophies this year, as Roo's passed on and I can't really see Tess winning the coursing!!! so good luck to everyone in winning them this year.

I'll be entering Tess anyway for a laugh as it's all for charity so why not give it a go eh??

If you see a stocky, dark brindle bitch stood on it's back legs or doing cartwheels, screaming to chase the lure and a rather embarrassed guy on the end of the lead then that'll be me, so feel free to pop over and say hello! (just bring some ear defenders!)

Hope to see you all there and all the best with the show.

Luke.

Well I entered Tess in the Sim Coursing, she was running against a 12 month old 28" deer/grey and surprisingly she managed to keep up down the first stright and to the first corner, then lost the lure through the grass so was out straight away! lol

Still she had fun and got to stretch her legs.

Then entered her in the straight racing were she was still out first round but really surprised me, managing to keep in the tight group of normal Lurchers for probably the first 100-150yds, after this distance and over the next 100yds they all start pulling away and beat her by 3-4 lengths, she just doesn't have that extra gear to call on that the slimmer dogs have.

Still for a dog with only 3/8th's Grey, I was gobsmacked she was with them for that far!!!

I only entered her in the Bullcross class in the Lurcher ring, so my missus convinced me to put her in the Family dog ring too, so I entered her into the Prettiest bitch for a giggle which she won  and then went on to win the overall family dog Champion! :toast:

I was a little disappointed with the Bullcross class in the end as almost all entrants were said to have a 'touch' of bull in them lol, so both me and the guy next to me with the only Bull saturated dogs that couldn't be entered in other classes (he had a large 2nd Gen. Bullcross) didn't get a look in!! lol still never mind, it's all for fun!

The rest of the classes I watched were judged well and I don't think I would of picked much differantly on the winners, so maybe I'm just being a bit biased to my own dog?

Even the kids were catered for with a free easter egg hunt organised which went well with all kids getting either sweets or a chocolate egg.

As usual there were a lot of familiar faces having a laugh and joke and it was good to catch up and it was also good to put some faces to names of others I've chatted to on here!

Congratulations to Sarah and all her helpers again for another well organised day! It was really well attended and seems to be going from strength to strength!

All the best for next year,

Luke.
