Ron Weasley 83
look here seasons apply in some cases, please be familiar with them before you shoot !!!!! yes, PLEASE be aware of this! Our sport has taken such a hammering in recent weeks that it is each and everyone of our collective responsibility to prove that airguns and airgunners are to be trusted! 1 Quote Link to post
pianoman 3,587
The season advice is very important headshot. Your legitimate air rifle target vermin are; Rat, Rabbit, Grey Squirrel, Woodpidgeon, Ferral Pidgeon, Crow, Rook, Magpie, Jay, Jackdaw. Mink. That's all. Nothing more. And even some these have a certain level of legality to be aware of as to when and where you may or may not shoot them. Such as only when they are on land you have permission to shoot over and they are feeding on crops, thus are deemed to be pests. Waterfowl like Duck, Heron, or gamebirds bred for (paid-for) shooting like pheasants, grouse and partridge and such, are not only ethically wrong to shoot with an air rifle, I believe it is actually illegal. Be seen as a responsible air rifle hunter and a credit to the sport. Not an airgun yob, who shoots anything in ignorance when he gets caught and contributes to the negative image there is abroad at the moment. Quote Link to post
Phantom 631
Hi Simon, You are correct with the Heron but although as I mentioned on another post, its perfectly legal, to take pheasant, duck, grouse, woodcock, partridge and (this may cause a bit of a stir) Canada Goose at the correct time of the year. Also added to the GL's in 2010 are Ring Neck Parakeets and there is also the Monk Parakeet. And I wont mention the other one on the GL because once a newbie gets the species name they go out and 'have a pop' at all the members of that species and not just the one on the list! Tony ps WML GL04, gl05 and gl05 are the documents you need to read for the birds. Quote Link to post

Not an airgun yob, who shoots anything in ignorance when he gets caught and contributes to the negative image there is abroad at the moment. this place is a joke sometimes , talk about calling the kettle black Makes things a little clearer for me. I was always lead to believe it was illegal to hunt them with an air rifle. Never bothered to check that out really. I've shot scores of them for the pot, only because in the past, a certain gamekeeper on my permission would happily run his dogs on my shooting ground, after seeing my car parked up and deliberately screw up any hope of a decent dusk rabbit hunt. So I mercillessly hunted down and zapped his pheasants and partridges. I once culled his entire stock by sniping at the feeding bins and shooting everything of every bird I saw. Sure it was wrong. But he got the message good and proper, and now we get along just fine, out of eachothers way . yep it was wrong and very illegal , armed trespass that mate , not something i would be bragging about on a forum. or maybe it was just a fairytale .. yep thats it a fairytale Quote Link to post
