loveferreting 2
hi guys i was reading the countryman weekly today and saw the ferret formula does any one use it if so whats it like http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Ferrets-Formula-UK-Ferretone-treat-grooming-aid-/180637013249?pt=UK_Pet_Supplies_Small_Animals&hash=item2a0ece1501&x=24&y=6 Quote Link to post
Bolt 0
i dont use it personally and dont know anyone who does. it seems to me (OPINION before i start arguments) is that this stuff "ferret formula" is trying to domesticate your ferret (turn it to a pet) my ferrets are great and have never seen the need to use anything like this. some people maqy disagree but my opinion all it is, is a sugary substance that the ferret will like. another money making idea from someone. stuff like. to get used to handleing your ferret put drop or so on its belly and it will get used to it. ive always just handeled mine may of been bit a few times but it plays out same way. and you have to pick the ferret up in first place to get the stuff on its belly ? and i cant see how this would help some one with working ferrets. they wont work any harder Edited March 30, 2011 by Bolt Quote Link to post

Bolt 0
it probs will do what it says. but all what it is mainly doing is distracting it from you. if your ferret isnt drinking add this stuff... well if it isnt drinking, it has to drink to taste the stuff ... put it on its belly so you can handle it... you have to handle the ferret to pick it up and put this stuff on its belly... to lubricate your ferrets ... well ive never had a problem where i need to lubricate their insides.. i just think its a marketing idea which is utter rubbish (OPINION) but it will probs be safe i dont think they could sell something which an animal can digest which is harmful. Must admit i was a bit puzzled about adding it to water to get ferrets to drink.. a ferret not drinking is a sick ferret so needs to be seen by someone who can find out why its not drinking Quote Link to post
loveferreting 2
would you use it kay Quote Link to post
Kay 3,709
would you use it kay I genuinely dont see a need for it .. I have used ferretone on occasion to just keep a ferret still long enough to clip the claws .. but I have also used a blob of cooking oil for the same purpose I certainly dont think ferrets fed a decent diet & plenty of fresh water offered in any way are lacking in some nutrient or other If you want to try it then get some .. each to there own I say Quote Link to post
canis lupus 1
I just got a bottle to try mine and they like it. I only use it for claw cutting and thats it. Quote Link to post
charliehart 0
No Thanks, I 100% agree with bolt. The good old fashioned way is the best as always! Quote Link to post
Ideation 8,216
Ferrets will probably lap it up like crack, but then same goes for goats milk, egg, blood, mince, rabbits eyes etc etc etc. No harm in it, if thats your thing, but i reckon it's going to find its main market amongst those who's ferrets live on dry food, and go to shows, with perms. morton 5,368
As soon as people start to keep a working animal as a pet, somebody will see an opportunity to exploit the situation, fools and money comes to mind. Quote Link to post
