Simoman 110
I think the card wasn't as strong as previous UFC's. Can't wait to see Slyvia vs Couture I don't mind watching a striking fight. Edited February 5, 2007 by Simoman
gnasher16 30,121
I think the card wasn't as strong as previous UFC's. Can't wait to see Slyvia vs Couture I don't mind watching a striking fight. The Croatian had a fearsome look about him..as you guys say though, seems to be more about strikers now. Lutter was well disappionted. dont think thats the case, just happened to be the way it was on that particular card thats all, other times theres been mainly subs on the floor, thats just the way it fell at ufc67. think its a bad move myself couture taking on sylvia,a small heavyweight taking on one of the biggest ever heavyweights, especially at his age. still like to see frank mir regain full fitness but maybe his time has been and gone unfortunately, think he would have beat crocop, then again id go with a good ground game to a good striker any day Edited February 5, 2007 by gnasher16
Simoman 110
I think Frank Mirs time has passed, I was never that impressed..........I can't believe Lutter lost a chance at winning a title because he didn't get down to the correct weight.

Simoman 110
Tomo, I think he fights in Pride. He was only a little bloke 5'7/5'8 but beat some well known names, Kerr, Goodridge. Sakuraba etc. Gnasher I don't think Mir and Arlovski have ever fought but I doubt Mir would remain concious after the first minute Mir broke Sylvias arm but Tim was still trying to carry on. A few years ago Ian Freeman gave Mir a pasting and Mir seems good at submissions but his last few fights have been far from convincing and his conditioning always looks suspect Edited February 5, 2007 by Simoman
gnasher16 30,121
Firstly mate,Mir was a 19 year old kid with very little experience when freeman beat him ,secondly, regarding the mir/sylvia fight,a knockout is a knockout a broken arm is a broken arm.....many times when a fighter is knocked out he would willingly get up 10 seconds later and carry on the fight....no different to sylvia having his arm broken, sometimes a fighter needs to be protected against his own courage/gameness/adrenalin and thats what referees are for so to say a broken arm isnt good enough reason for a ref to stop a fight is like saying a ref should let someone carry on beating down on a knocked out opponent ! a stoppage is a stoppage its all part of the game. Why would you think arlovski at around 238 a striker would take care of mir 252ish so easily when sylvia another striker 260 + couldnt, especially when mir beat sylvia who in turn beat arlovski 2 out of 3 times ?? Mirs conditioning is poor yes and without doubt he has not been the same as he was pre accident and may never be the same again unfortunately...styles make fights and mir was particularly suited to strikers.I guess we,ll never know.
