panacur 10% top stuff

Aye Hence the reason I have never kept a pure bred dug in my life, couldn,t be arsed with the problems, admittedly I have basic knowledge and don,t really understand the complexities and nor care to reg

iv used panacur loads a times, always weighed pups 1st, an given the proper dose for 3 days

never had a problem

That's cuz it's almost impossible to kill them with it. There is no other drug out there that is safer than fenbendazole for worming.

really? never had any problems using it myself can you put links up to pups that have died from this?

One discussion about wormers http://www.champdogsforum.co.uk/board/topic/68664.html

Will have a look for more but the ones i know about are mainly on Facebook.

From reading through that discussion it states Collies/herding breeds should not be given Milbemax as there is a substance in it which they can react badly to, i would play it safe and not give it to any lurchers with collie in them

not having a go at you personaly but don,t believe everything you read,I,ve not read it but to suggest not to give a particular brand to a dug with collie in it seems a bit strange tae me

There's links to veterinary advice not to give this particular wormer to herding breeds

I am sure i also read it on the manufacterurers website but it may have been on a website doing mail order for the product (i can't find it now).

I.ll tell you why I think its a bit strange, maybe herding types are a bit mental but their basic genetic make up is the same as any other breed,so I would reckon either this particular wormer shouldn,t be given to dogs regardless the breed or the articles decrying it are alot of shite

I always weigh twice and dose once, this is a strong mix of chemicals you are giving.

Still lost 2 pups, a friend has lost 1 + rest of the litter got really sick and there's a FB chat about it as well with a lot of breeders having problems/side effects and far too many dead pups.

To me it's just not worth the risk when i've used Milbemax & Drontal with no problems at all so i'll stick to them

So what about the injection Vets give to dogs for Mange? Had my 3 dogs all get mange once, took them to the vet and he jabbed the 2 staffies but gave me a sponge-on solution for the CollieX as he said the jab is lethal to collies and he wouldn't risk giving it to a collie mix either.

There's also an anaesthetic known as ACE which is very dangerous for sighthounds, causes respiratory & cardiac arrest but is perfectly safe for other breeds and is commonly used.

Sorry, I mean she. I didnt realize shazza was a lady.

Shazza, some greyhounds respond negatively to ACE cuz greyhounds overall are a shade bit more susceptible to having epilepsy of some sort or another. Not all greyhounds are like this though but because vets get lawsuits slapped on them for malpractice just like regular people doctors they error on the side of caution and justifiably so.

I was giving examples to Kittlerox of drugs which do have detrimental effects to certain breeds while being perfectly safe for other breeds of dog.

I doubt my Vet was trained in WWII era, he was young & fit and this was only 12 years ago (aprox).

LOL, no offence taken

Try and sue a vet here, you got no chance of winning as they all agree to back each other up  I only heard about ACE as i have Chinese cresteds which also react badly to it so i have to inform the Vet should the need arise as they don't necessarily know about this breed.

I'd heard it mentioned re greyhounds but was told it was more generalised to sighthounds as they have very low bodyfat and it affects absorbtion rate. The LurcherLink forum also recommends the use of alternative products for safety reasons.

Yes the low body fat is also an issue but what I'm tryin to say is that perfectly healthy dogs dont react bad to any of these very safe drugs. Alot of breeds just aint healthy cuz of our(human beings as a whole) manipulation and perverse breeding practices.
