liongeorge 7
Thought I'd try some Remington .17's in my Sako Quad at the wkend after a recomendation from a friend. They shot pretty much to the POI of the Hornady round and grouped well but my son noticed one of the cases I ejected was cracked at the neck with a distinct track down the brass then when he was shooting one went 'phut' then bang. With the 'phut coming from the breach area! We checked the case nd it too ws badly cracked. Has anyone else had this problem ? It seems potentially v dangerous. I think I'll take the rest back to the shop (only shot 25 of 100 bought). Edited March 28, 2011 by liongeorge Quote Link to post

RicW 67
One-off dodgy batch. Take 'em back, a hang-fire could be bloody dangerous. Quote Link to post

paulus 26
been a problem for years .17hmr case is made from a .22wmr case necked down and problems occur in the anealing process, to be fair most people dont even notice the split cases. dont normally effect the performance of the round if it did more people would have noticed it before.
