I don't understand why people moan about it? It's the way it is and getting yourself concerned about the couple of quid it's going to personally cost you isn't going to change anything mate.

As for all the money its going to cost the tax payer....give or take a penny i think it works out to around 47 pence per person......if your that hard up that you need to whinge about 47 pence theres a lot more for you to worry about than a royal wedding !

 

 

That's it mate, besides the tax payer is paying for the security, the Royals are paying for the wedding themselves.

Well off the top of my head, Prince Harry has set off to the North Pole with ex service men who were wounded and lost limbs in Afghanistan. He's a Patron of the "Walking With the Wounded" charity, and seems pretty passionate about helping our lads who have been severely injured.

 

What do you do for our fallen and wounded Soldiers?

nowt mate to busy doing a hard days work , so to keep a roof over my families head,sumet the royals wont have to do

Makes me laugh I read time and time again about immigrants on these posts that shouldn't be here and about how they dont respect our culture etc etc and when an American asks what we feel about a Royal wedding some people just want to slag the Royal family off.

 

To me good on em I wish them all the best proud and English And to those who want to disband the Royal family what do you want to do with them? Execute French style? Exile and execute them Russian style? Maybe they could work in Burger King? What about Buckingham Palace who could afford to run that place? lifes been hard for a lot of people over the last few years high unemployment , pensioners not being able to use thr heating in fear of high bills, redudanceys,firms goin bust,houses being reclaimed , higher taxes, higher fuel bills , higher cost of living in general , countrys at the worst all time low its ever been -- so i`ve changed my views a royal wedding in all its splender might just be the thing to cheer us all up .....

I find it amusing that Americans go nuts over our royalty? They are just expensive figurheads these days i suppose,nothing clever about having to support them financially to my mind? And ironically a lot of modern day Americans will be more Anglo-Saxon genetically than our royal family.

Those same Americans pump billions into our country every year as tourists when they come over here to have their photo taken in front of the palace or with a palace guard, way more than it costs us to keep them. The royals make plenty of money themselves BTW, they are the largest landowners in the UK..

 

I know the royals are the biggest landowners in the UK,landowners aren't exactly on my fav's list mate,ive spent years pinching game off them,maybe its my commie upbringing? And my post wasn't a dig at Americans pers'e,if they like them that much they can have them for me.

When the communists took the Tzar and his family prisoner they contacted our royals and offered them safe passage to the UK if they would take them in,they refused knowing their own cousins would most likely be executed,with family like that mate you dont need enemies,obviously they were afraid of the revolution spreading over here and losing their position.

 

Nothing will ever change here,the royals are just part of the "have's" system to keep the rest of the "sheep" [us] underfoot,its a pretty stable society compared to a lot of other countries and i dont have a better answer myself.Ultimatly some years down the line the royals will probably be the saviours of the UK because i cant see the establishment letting our growing immigrant population [France is predicted to be majority muslim in 15 years based on current birth rates,and we're getting there]depose our royal family and turn the UK into a muslim state.

Mate I'm no fan of landowners either, just used the point to illustrate that the Royal family have their own means of income through rents etc, besides the civil list.

 

I'm not overly enamoured by the Royals myself if truth be known, but like them or hate them they are part and parcel of the whole UK culture, tradition & national identity and should be respected as such.

The Royals were over thrown once remember! Charles I was beheaded and all the the people had to replace him was another bloke (Cromwell) barking orders at the people banning this that and the other. As time goes on i find it more difficult to be proud of anything about my country mate,at grass roots level we are stopped by the establishment from celebrating our culture/heritage if its likely to offend some immigrants..ect,i know a few lads who've been asked to button their jackets because they were wearing England shirts during the world cup,and a lad that works for me was asked to remove a flag from his car,its perfectly ok to fly the flag and die under it when it suits them though,maybe im just getting bitter in my old age

If I could have it my own way I'd have Harry in the Big Seat lol. Both of the lads seem down to earth and a lot more like normal people if you ask me. Their old lady would be a very proud woman if she could see them now I reckon.

George V regreted this decision very much so yes you are right this was part of his extended family but he did so not on a whim. In my opinion no one dreamed the mad revolutionary bast@rds would have executed their own royal family most thought the worst would be imprisonment or exile.

I'll remind you of a fact about our Royal family in 1940 when Hitler was on the coast of France, ready for invasion of the UK the King and his family could have escaped to Canada and were indeed asked to do so for safety but they refused, they stayed with everyone else.

Regarding them being the saviours to stop the expanding immigrant population unfortunately mate I think it's too late, drastic measures would be needed to turn that around now which a civilised society would not embrace but that's a different topic me thinks....
