out today

Went out today with the foot beagles to a nice bit of cover that always holds plenty of foxes. Had a few young hounds with us today. Anyway the morning started well with a great hunt but the hounds lost charlie after a good hour. Into the next bit of cover and it didn't take long before they struck again. This time the fox ran two field before running a double ditch and going to ground in the middle of thorn bushes. I dug this earth a few years back and knew it was handy so i decided to work my bitch as she is still learning her trade and it would be a good confidence booster for her. She was rearing to go at the entrance so let her off and it wasn't long till i could hear the thumping under my feet. I was wondering wat way she was gonna work charlie as she bayed in her first dig and mixed it for her last three digs but today there was only thumping. I left her to settle and got a mark of two feet. I was surprised when i opened up on her as she didn't take any punishment. She had him caught by the throat so he couldn't dish it out. To say i was delighted would be an understatement. I was ecstatic as she is coming along nicely and improving with every dig. The result was a big dog fox which we left off for another day. In all it was a good day with even the young hounds showing interested in the work that they will be doing in the near future. I apologise for the photos in advance as they were taken with a phone. Happy hunting :victory:
