ryno 11
I dont know about anyone else but i wouldnt want one even for £30! They are nowhere near as good as a cahinsaw smaker. I couldnt say why it is because it seems like it should be brilliant, loads of smoke, easy to use etc, BUT they dont bolt rats as well as the tried and tested!!! i agree they just dont seem to have the compression to push the smoke around the set Quote Link to post

Pesty 0
Been watching this thread with interest as I bought a Rat Attack smoker Mk2, but must say I am disappointed with your results. It may have cost you thirty quid but I can see why. All you have done is make a flame thrower that could not be used unless you are an arsonist. You say your unit is the same as the Arthur carter unit! Well owning one I can tell you its not. Also I think they stress not use any flammable fluid in it, well we can see why. Yes the unit is a £100 but I paid £75 for a plastic lamp that I think expensive but you pay for what you get. The thing that has annoyed me more than anything was your two fingers to shoot right comment, at least they had the foresight to even come up with the idea in the first place. I am all for creativity and ideas that will help with our sports and good luck to anybody who can make a buck out of it. We have used our rat smoker many times with great success amongst our other more traditional methods and they all have their place. I hope your efforts are worthwhile as you will probably find yourself in a law suit. Quote Link to post
Broomy 16
A law suit for what? Doing exactly the same as they have done. Buying a weed wand a piece of perforated tube an oil can and putting it all together. If you watched the end of the video I do state that I will be trying to locate some non flammable oil. But it sure won't cost me £25 for 5 litres. I'm guessing you work for one of the two companies? So try to tell me I'm doing anything wrong my creating something that will be of use to people. The mk1 was just an American insect fogged that was rebadged as a rat smoker, correct? 1 Quote Link to post
Broomy 16
And I apologise for the comment regarding the two companies. Don't insult my intelligence by saying what I have made isn't as good because it is. On the official site it says not to use anything other than rat attack fluid which is IMO rubbish. Many others use sunflower oil and veg oil in theirs. Quote Link to post
Pesty 0
No I do not work for them but have used Arthur Carter for years from when it was based in Cornwall, they have always served their customers very well. I can remember when people started to clone the Mk1 Deben ferret finders that are a simple devise it did not stop Deben from stopping replicas being replicated. Quote Link to post
dazbo 15
pesty at £100 and £25 for oil i think broomy was spot on to put up this post why should people with not alot of money and the young one,s be priced out of a sport they love or want to get into. broomy spot on mate ill have a bash at makeing one already got a weed wand so will be even cheaper Edited March 28, 2011 by gone bush Quote Link to post

Broomy 16
I have spoken via email with Peter from Arthur carter about the smoker and all I said was that I thought the price was high for what it was hence me investigating what they are made from. He explained that what with overheads and stuff that's why they cost what they do which is fair enough. So all I have done is provided people with a tutorial on how to make one which whatever anyone says is virtually identical as I have used the same parts other than the wind shield. You will prob find that a deben ferret finder is patented and a rat smoker isn't. I congratulate Arthur carter on making one but I'm sorry the price is over the top. Like I said the mk1 was nothing more than an insect fogger Quote Link to post
