if a terrier gets a battering of a fox and i mean smashed to feck not just a few bites like you see on most pics on here even if the dog stays to the end of the dig ,it will think twice about going in hard again or going in ever again on a fox ..

Have to disagree there rob, I've seen dogs that could only be dug to once a month due to being so hard on their fox and especialy if it was a big fox maybe laid up for 6-7 weeks, they either got it or they don't, a dog can spew at any time and I don't think anyone would be able to give a reason for it, like is there anyone here that has never pulled a sicky from work??

it comes down to factors doesnt it, i mean if ye have a dog that ye know is proven but he jibbs then ye can always give him the benefit and try him again shortly but if a dog hasnt shown any good signs and jibbs in a short space of time ie: between diggs then imo its pts

I'd disagree there Rob, it does teach a good percentage of dogs to bay fair enough but some dogs never learn and neven stash but die young or don't get a great deal of hard work

I have seen a good few dogs spew in my time , some of them had done a lot of work id say at least half of those it was the fault of the owner ,to much work , not in the best condition ,entered to early , expecting to much , no patience, ect however in some cases it remains a mystery but at the end of the day im sure a lot of dogs spew because of the owners lack of knowledge and understanding of the dog .

Bang on !

at least half :icon_eek: ide put money on it that the amount of terriers that dont make the grade becouse

of mistakes made by owners is much higher. also i think the better the breeding the more care they need

just my opinion of course. but i think special dogs need special owners to .shine this applies to all working dogs but is more important in the word of serious earthwork.

ive lost count of the amount of terriers/strains/lines being abused. by so called terriermen that have just f****d up another pup before the tender age of twelve months.
