confidence restored !!

Recommended Posts

hey all,

well, after a few weeks of not having much luck on our permission's i was starting to loose confidence in myself but this weekend has been a good one! :tongue2:

Scott and myself went down to one of our bird permissions this afternoon for a quick 2 hour hunt. it was quiet for about 20 minutes and the pigeons all seemed to congregate on the outside of our hunting perimeter, but we were sure it was a matter of time before one ventured across the line :)

soon enough a pigeon had landed on a branch, perfect shot! i decided to utilize my new range finder at my usual firing point and found it was flat bang on zero range. the pigeon had noticed me but didn't seem to be spooked about my presence so i took my time and lined up the cross hair's and released the shot. sure enough the pigeon dropped. :toast:

chuffed to bits i went to recover my prize, when i heard a thwack from behind me. my mate, scott, had taken down a magpie, once again at zero range. i walked over in time to hear a second thwack and see yet another magpie drop. beautiful shot!

the one remaining magpie in the tree started making its usual call and before we knew it 4 more mag pies flew to the tree!

unfortunately there were too many branches in the way and we didn't have the opportunity to get anymore before they dispersed.

happy with out success we decided to wander to another part of our permission and saw a squirrel but it hopped to the other side of a tree before i shot was taken. my mate scott walked to the other side of the tree and before you knew it the squirrel had hopped into sight. another thwack and scott nearly had a dead squirrel on his head

that was all we had time for and we went on our way. :) haven't had that much fun in a few weeks!

hope you enjoyed your read. i'm sure pictures will follow when scott uploads them!
