headshot 0
hi all, im a newbie to the site so forgive me if a post like this already exists but im quite interested in decoying some pigeons/crows with my air rifle. im just wondering whether or not it can be productive as ive never done it before ive seen many clips of doing it with shotguns but never air rifles. i tryed putting a couple of dead rabbits out for the crows and magpies but although plenty of them flew past not one showed any interest in them even though i was tucked well away and hidden. and would chucking some feed aout help attract the woodies? all help and advice appreciated cheers Quote Link to post
oakey 57
To decoy crows and magpies to a dead rabbit put it belly up . You can also use a airgun to decoy pigeons into a near by (sitty tree)when they are feeding on the ground Quote Link to post

pernod 466
Hi mate, As mentioned in one of the posts above, the sitty tree is the way to go. I used to do a lot of decoying when i was younger, we had lots more sport out of trees than on the ground. Your normal shotgun decoy pattern will bring pigeons in, but it can be very hard to get a shot off with the air rifle before they fly off. By far it is better to have a pattern out in a field in front of some trees, the pigeons usually(not always) land in the trees long enough for you to get a shot off. Even better is to put a couple of decoys up in the trees if they are bare enough.I have had a lot out of trees that have decoys in them. Cheers Pernod Quote Link to post
