watchman 256
my mate has just got a wheatenxgreyhound pup never seen one before just wondering what atributes does wheaten blood bring in ? my friend reckons gameness and a good tough allround dog does anyone agree ? any experiances with this cross ? dont know anything about them my self but was talking to a lad at a game fair once,he had run what he described as decent bull xs for many years, then went over to the wheatons and said they really are a class of their own and he would never touch a bullx again, dont forget this is just one mans opinion but it gave me food for thought Quote Link to post
fat man 4,741
Totally agree, they are as game as any bullx and better all rounder with good harsh coat to withstand the weather. Not as head strong as a bullx but can have a liken to sheep.I find them easier to handle around terriers more bidable but everyone to there own. 1 Quote Link to post
bunnys 1,228
WHEATON CROSS FROM THE RIGHT LINES CAN AND ARE VERY GOOD IN LOTS OF CASES THE ADDED COAT AND FOOT STRUCTURE HIS A BENEFIT IN THE CROSS ,THEY ARE ALSO VERY HARDY TYPES . THE WHEATON SEEMS TO LIGTEN THE FRAME OUT WITHOUT LOSS OF STRENGTH AND THE ABILITY TO KILL CLEANLY ,BRED IN TO A GOOD BULL LINE CAN GIVE YOU SOME APSOLUTE BELTERS . ATB BUNNYS Quote Link to post

fitchet 788
iv been looking at some pure wheatons on google and to be honest i cant see them bieng good at anything they look like lapdogs.so how do lads get good wheatan blood in there dogs ? Quote Link to post
runforyourlife 361
Because you have only heard the plus side so far. Lots of guy s have owned them and disted them, got rid etc. I worked with a cpl of them last season wheatongrey x staffgrey.. Both are no longer around, the guys in question dont have crap in there kennels. My views on the dogs was, "i cant believe that one of them isnt here, doubled it up with my dog for the 1st few times and totally did the buisness. looked handy but not very quick". was single by 16 mth. The other one(his brother) ran differently, and i wouldnt have wanted to name it, yet alone own it.... Quote Link to post

Bogger 243
fichet there more likely the show bred ones mate they are a far cry away from workin wheatons i had a wheaton bitch that didnt make the grade was very obidient just lacked that extra bit of drive but id never cancel them out as owning one again as seen some very good wheaton/greys. Same as what you'd look for in any terrier x lurcher dog... Bogger totally agree with you on the drive front. That was what the dogs lacked as well as stamina.. Quote Link to post
