Which Springer?

Recommended Posts

I have been thinking about getting another air rifle for a while and wonder if anybody could give some recommendations?

I currently have a HW100TK which I am very happy with but would like a spring gun to maybe improve my technique.

I am joining a club tonight where a lot of the shooting is at around 20 metres from a standing position, so I was thinking maybe a light weight gun would be good?

I have a budget of around £300, don't mind new or second hand.

Thanks

Andy

Diana 280 Carbine .177, a lovely light weight springer, german quality, great to handle.. Something very special, perfect for targetting.. had one, until some idoit crashed into my car, breaking my wrist and leaving me with nerve damage, so moved onto PCPs..

I saw the one you had up for sale, I liked the look of it.

Hi Shepp.

The HW95 is a nice light springer to think about, and returns good accuracy too.

Had mine tuned by Tony Wall, makes it even better to shoot, and consistancy improves, valued for target work.

Good luck in your search mate.

as with the rest, HW95k mate!! straight out of the box its a good un, although you'll find your groups opening up a tad after shooting the hw100!! it'll definitely improve your technique tho, the only downside to owning one is possible springer addiction, or springeritis...

cheers, wurz

I''ve an 95k thumbhole custom stock, silencer, one piece mount, recoil pad, hawke sport HD 3-9 x 50 sights in excellent condition for sale £300. (stock cost more) Only problem (or not depending) it's a left hooker.

If anyones interested I think pickup would be the way to go.

It's 22.

You might be better off putting the old stock back on the gun and selling the gun and custom stock separately.

This is a fairly commonly asked question, and as usual, the right answer has been given!

You won't go wrong with an HW95K. I'm a big fan of BSA pre-charged rifles, but I personally feel that the quality of their spring rifles is miles behind Weihrauch.

The Air Arms spring rifles, such as the ProSport that has been mentioned are also awesome, but I have a feeling the HW95K is the rifle for you.

If you wanted to be a bit controversial, then it might be worth considering an SMK XS20. Don't shout me down here gents- if you're prepared to put in a little effort with tuning etc, these rifles can be made to compare with the Weihrauchs on which they are based.

If you don't want the hassle, then buy an HW95K. You won't be disappointed.
