Hi, mate.

 

A shooting pal of mine had two 80s in .22 and they both shoot best with either AA Fields and H and N FTTs.

 

Bear in mind though that what works well in one gun may not work best in another, even of the same type but it may be a starting point for you

Dogman, people can tell you what shoots well in their rifle, but not what will shoot well in yours. Each barrel and action is slightly different, even within the same batch, and so will like different pellets. The only way to find out which is the best in your rifle is to try several different pellets.

 

The ones recommended above represent good quality, well produced and consistent pellets. Whether your rifle shoots well with them is a different matter.

thanks matt, yeah i kno [bANNED TEXT] u mean, the ones im using just now are all over the place. they slip 2 easy into the barrel there 5.5s so was i think if there 5.6 it would help

It's possible, but remember the barrel will have a throat that is slightly wider than the actual rifling, to allow for easier loading. It's no fun trying to force an overly tight pellet into the rifling by hand.

 

It's often difficult to find out if a particular pellet is .5 or .6, and there's no guarantee either will be better. The .6 will certainly be tighter in the rifling, which could cause more friction than is necessary, but it's not an exact science.

I'm being very general here but are you sure the rest of your kit's set up OK?

 

There's not too many HW springers that don't shoot well enough with Super Domes. You may well have one of the very few that don't but before you spend loads of cash on different pellets, go through the basics....

 

Is everything properly tight? Do you use a mod and if so, is it clipping? Are you sure the scope's OK? Are you new to the sport so maybe your technique could do with a little help?

H&N FIELD TARGET TROPHY. is the pellet to try here.

If you Weihrauch HW80 is not shooting straight with these, at all ranges then, you have a problem with the rifle. Possibly bent, damaged barrel from accidentally releasing it back under tension of the spring (is the stock split along the wrist or pistol grip?) or internals are not as good or as young as they should be. These H&N pellets are like Nectar to Weihrauch barrels. I have three Weihrauch rifles and they group to one-hole perfection with all of them.

 

RWS Superdomes not shooting straight :hmm: :hmm: .

 

Be honest. Is you rifle shooting over the 12ft/lb limit? Superdomes are not good for an FAC-level HW80 pellet. My .22 HW80s are on-ticket and before they were tuned, they shot beautifully on Superdomes. Once the rifles were tuned however, these went haywire all over the place.

 

The H&Ns are very stable and formidably accurate at higher power but, no pellet will perform well if the rifle is producing inconsistent air delivery performance from it's internals, poorly screwed-together bits or a stuffed barrel .

My loved H&N FTT , so a good place to start.

 

Very accurate gun, but boy was it hold sensitive. Mine is still in the gun shop from last year when I traded it in against my 410, if its still there in another years time I think Ill buy it back!
