so did anyone go to this today, was it any good

I went, had a look around, [you can cover it in an hour and a half].

A mate was running the lurcher show , good bloke ,so it was nice to have a craic with him.

I don't think it is worth £10 entry fee TBH, but it's near me,and under cover ,so if it rains no problem . It needs more demos, imo too many stalls just selling coats etc, more relevant hunting orientated stalls , would be an improvement. Not many dvds/ books for sale this year.Mostly clothes, food.

I wanted a double edged ,fixed blade knife ,for " emergencies", which was the primary reason for going , nothing available.

Bought a couple of collars for the lurchers £5 each, pretty good value, they are on the furthest stall on the right hand side.

Worth a look if you are free, and not coming too far, but £10 is a bit steep imo.

I went for the first time in about four years. A couple of mates of mine know Charles Jardine, so we watched his fly fishing demos.

There were the usual tat stands, but amongst them were a couple of gems. There was a wildfowling stand, where the guy was selling the U Caller with speaker and two cards for £49. Unsuprisingly he was selling loads. He also gave me lots of advice on the best way to use them. Annoyingly I had just bought one earlier in the week off Ebay.

Had a long chat with the guy on the BASC stand about his rifles - very serious kit and he was a genuinely good bloke. Also had to try the cider of course, whilst having a short break!

I bought a Harris bipod copy (which appeared to be very good quality)for a show price of £50. made by the these people:

Would have liked more time to look at the terriers and some of the other demos, but was due to go shooting in the late afternoon.

Not a bad show, but I'll probably wait a couple more years before going back.

Cheers

Sib

I didn't think it was too bad, a few interesting stalls but like Inan said it could of done with more demo's. The equine side of things i thought very weak but the food stalls were pretty good :icon_redface:

A nasty accident in the lurcher racing on Sunday when one ran full pelt into the line judge.

Most folk did that were watching  I've seen a few knocked down by greyhounds at the end of a race but nobody went down as hard or stayed down for as long as he did. They eventually managed to get him in the back of a 4x4 & the last i heard he was refusing to go to hospital because he lived in Nottingham & didn't want to be stuck down this way. It didn't do the little lurcher too good either.
