Even more pet keepers on the fuzzy forums are starting to shift away from feeding dry and towards feeding real food.

There was actually some interesting research released by a fella named Bob Church where he explored links between a cancer they can get, tooth and gum disease and dry food...found that the rate of both diseases goes down drastically the more meat and less dry they are fed.

Alright matey boy, no one here has a problem with you hating on folk that are cruel to their ferrets, we all hate that. What got you the abuse, was straight off the bat claiming that anyone who fed a

Best food for ferrets is dried and it works out the cheapest. They can also have chicken, liver, rabbit, mince and the odd boiled egg but not too often as it can make there fur fall out. Personally i

Works out cheaper ?? Than free stuff you get in the field which also contains free liver kidney and hearts ,?? You been on the piss today , lol

Never seen so may '' strutting cocks '' in one thread before

the biggest thing i struggle with regarding any dry food .. be it ferret. dog or whatever is the breakdown of ingredients.

Take ferret food in this instance, the debate about protein mentioned in this thread & a few previous ones in the last few weeks .

levels of protein displayed on the bag is the '' crude'' amount.. basically that's every scrap in the bag that contains a protein .. regardless

Now I for one want to know if i am paying a fair amount of hard earned or Penny's for this stuff how much of the 36% is not derived from a vegetable scours

ferrets don't digest carbs so they eat more basically because there hungers not satisfied due to the body not getting what nutrients they need quick enough because of the 3 to 4 hours in to out ratio . shorter digestive tract

Lets also bare in mind obligate carnivores don't chew they gulp .. the gut breaks down the food after its ingested

so if the food is hard to digest once its in the gut then the body struggles to utilize everything & it can mean the difference between thriving & surviving.. at one time i was convinced they eat so much dry food because they liked it

I now think they eat so much because there hungry & you feed whole carcass preferably & your getting exactly what it says on the tin

can you say the same about dry food .. but what the f**k do I know

dried food never tried it and hopefully never need to and if it came to that i would give them up for sure ,there enough wildlife about to feed a hutchfull of ferrets ,mines eat whats caut road casulty etc , and when i see my ferrets to dried food ferets i think i know what ones i would take home for sure ,nothng better than throwing in acarcase and seeing them crunch it blood on face and happy ,dreid foos was made for the pet industry not for guys who hunt alot ,fed mines on everything venison rabbs phesis bits of hare ,pidgoens ,cockrels ,mince fish , never had a problem and there work rate is pretty good ,keep the dry for the pet detectives and there types ,my fallacy if you have no work for them get rid dogs or ferrets , if you dont want to ferrret in summer you can air gun them snare dog them ,you even get suppliers of meat now for anmals cheap enough for most , THE WORST THING THAT HAPPEND TO FERRETS IS THEY BECOME A PET INDUSTRY ANIMAL , AND LOOKED UPON AS A CUTE PET RATHER THAN A PART OF A HUNTING TEAM ,IE IF IT DOES NOT WORK PUT IT TO SLEEP OR TO A LESS DEMANDING HOME ,NOT ALL FERRETS MAKE THE GRADE ,JUST LIKE DOGS

Stick to yer fishin you !!! lol

You know that my ferrets are fed a mix of meat and dry, and are in top condition, so dry has it`s place. Any one who buys in boxes of minced barf is doing the same as someone who buys in dry. Using a ready made feed for the ferrets..

I also think that if folk want a pet ferret, fair play to them, it`s not our place to say they cant. But thats a whole new thread.

Stubby. If someone is using two usernames, they should be outed,,or banned!! not many healthy reasons for being a sneaky rat really.

Specially if your a SSPCA grass.

I'd rather see someone with a pet ferret than a pet rat.

I just worked out that i need roughly 260-312 carcass a year to give mine one every day 5-6 days a week. So that's not actually that many bunnies you need to catch or freezer space to feed them almost a rabbit a day.
