magners 107
I think he ment that no pat "jacks", although id say ders a higher % of patterdales actually make da grade den other terrier breeds, just my opinion for me its russells good work rate and very smart Quote Link to post
JR Yipp 111
id say there's just as many shite patts as there are anything else... and there's lots of shite. i think patts are more popular because all to many folk like a dog to look like it works or looks like its done alot even if it hasent. mainly because these folk dont do much. there are good in every breed, folks should be alot less concerned with type or breed and be more concerned with lineage and how much its been tested and worked(ie not breeding off 11 month old dogs that do rats and rabbits). thats if there really bothered about working abilty over anything else. 1 Quote Link to post

Tomm Parr 30
I like the look of Plummers myself but it doesn't matter what breed a dog is or how it looks as long as they do their job. My old neighbour used to go on about his Yorkies after rabbits and rats when he was a kid in the 20's. Absolute miniature demons with short hair apparently. Just goes to show its the dog and his training that matters, not just the breeding and appearance. Quote Link to post
fat man 4,741
I think there is just as many jibbers in patterdales as any other working breed.A lot depends on how hard they are worked and how often, and the quarry they are worked on.Pre ban when lads could dig badger i seen a lot more russell types or russellx than patts, then there was'nt as many about then over here, maybe thats why there is such a suscess rate now cause nearly everyone keeps them.IMOP they are no better than any other terrier that works, they all do a job at the end of the day.I keep a couple as do the lads i dig with but we also keep other stuff every bit as good if not better. 1 Quote Link to post

Ripstop 89
It comes across that they all work to a high enough standard to work/keep. like all doing the job, staying till dug. Quote Link to post

OLD GOAT 6
My first dog was a Patterdale still the best I've had. Now 20 years later using Russells I like all Terriers, well the one's that WORK ! Quote Link to post
snizle06 202
all depends on a mans standards. ive heard great things about certain terriermen only to be in shock when ive seen how low there standards are. same goes for lurchers. i think alot of lads have never seen a good terrier IMO.
