terrierjohn 49
The satisfaction of digging whatever depth through all types of sand soil flint etc making sure the edges of the dig are all squared off and the closer you get to the dog he/she knows your almost there so puts in an extra bit of graft to get hold and when breaking through to dog and fox without the need for drawing dogs is the 2nd best feeling in the world for me Quote Link to post
Attack Fell Terrier 864
Dig every time mate. The sensation as you hear the baying and bumping coupled with the smell of the quarry building up a sweat as you get closer is electric. That smell when you break through. Every woman should wear that as perfume lol. Shallow or deep. Testing or easy soil. Wind, rain or shine. It doesn't matter. A nice dig to a worthy opponent is the sport of kings. Roll on next season. ATB FTB That pretty much says it all. Spot on FTB Quote Link to post

Rabbit Hunter 6,613
I only go out on the hope that I'm going to be digging. It's nice to get a few bolts to get the numbers up, but most of the time when they bolt the dog hasn't been near them. My main aim is to work the dog, and that's what a dig will do. MOO 730
I will be honest give me a bolt any time if im on my own in a big spot Got a 3.4 mark on this spot in the side of a steep bank earlier on in the year and let just say I was relieved when a dog fox managed to eventualy get past the small bitch and took his chances back on top of the ground Quote Link to post
MOO 730
Had a dog in for nearly 4 hours that didnt look to bad a spot but 3 of us chipping for 1 1 /2 hours we had only made a foot so had to get a jcb and the dog stuck to his quarry and never moved an inch the hole time the machine was on top of him ...lifted the dog out at 7pm (nearly missed x factor)....now that wasnt an enjoyable one especialy with a mute dog . FTB you are right you cant beat breaking through but if my wife wore perfume like that she woul;d be sleeping in the kennels Quote Link to post
