lennythetip 5
Why not the whippet or the beddy whippet? Good nose but of pace and balls to spare. Would be interested in a pup if you do. Yis jonny. I did consider it mate. Quote Link to post

mouse 282
this is a 7 year old cocker x patterdale.will hunt all day long and go to ground in the bigger spots.came from a local farm as a pup and is a cracking worker.will bush all day long, swim anything and finish her quarry off no problem. Thats what im after mate, a good handy sized worker. Fair play to you mate. never had a litter off her but if i did there is a waiting list a mile long but not one of the pups would leave here .she is a beauty but not sure what dog you put to her to keep the size and the work rate as in the spaniel side and the game drive from the terrier side. ryno 11
Its probably been discussed here before, but im wondering on your views on a suitable cross to put over my hard hunting spaniel bitch. I want to put a bit of fire into the pups cause at the moment when she hunts foxes she wont finish them at the end of a hunt. But I also want her bidability and stamina and her smallish size. ANY IDEAS???? a couple of years ago my cocker dog got across my lakeland bitch,to cut a long story short i now own a bitch that will rabbit, rat,go to ground but can be called off and works well in the beating line, and picks up to a fashion, atb ryan Quote Link to post
fat man 4,741
Knew a man that had a miss breeding with his springer bitch. The collie from next door lined her and she had 5 pups.He is a real softy and let the pups live.He got pet homes for 3 and kept the other twowhich were 2 bitchs. His intensions were to give them away but no one wanted them.He started to take them beating for fox and they loved it.They were demon's on fox really hated them and would also give plenty of tounge in cover. ANY IDEAS???? Any decent terrier will do, Patterdale, Lakeland, Russell, Bedlington, Wheaton maybe. I would defo have one to work with my pack if the right one came along. I think they bring and leave a few attributes that I would and would not want in both breeds. Also appearence maybe important, so colour or coat maybe sway your choice. Quote Link to post

Ive never really thought of crossing with a collie before, as long as the size wasnt compromised. I aint interested in my bushing dogs going to ground. Cant afford to where I live, Quote Link to post

Terrier Sam 297
A good working wheaton would give you a harder dog and IMO I've seen a whole pack of hounds that wouldn't draw a fox when it'd been dug down to, yet a lurcher muscled straight past and drag it out straight away - pre ban of course. Don't get me wrong hounds are great, love em, and if you were after getting a dog for it's nose or stamina then 100% yes but you can't go wrong with a decent terrier. Wheatons would give you the height too or a bull x patterdale - mentallity of a patt with a bit more height. Sam Quote Link to post
