Anytime is good for rabbits but if your wanting easy rabbits, over the summer months would be best as most are as green as the hills. They get a little wiser as they get older but your success will all depend on your approach and fieldcraft. The more you hit them with a lamp the shyer they will become as to adding to the challenge. Wet and windy nights are generally winners but it all depends on the type of shooting your into. Personally sat waiting for the bunnys to come to you isnt for me but each to his own. Remember, the more rabbits you shoot over the summer months will limit the numbers you have to shoot during the winter. Quote Link to post Share on other sites

Also, wet nights tend to be overcast, and hence darker at night. Lamping is fine as long as you don't over lamp one particular field. Late afternoon/early evening, and early mornings can pay off, and you are less likely to have a field full of jumpy bunnies. I shoot bunnies all year round, as and when I can, as the places I shoot they are a risk to the livestock so it's a "get rid of as many as possible" job. If you want to control numbers but keep the sport good, then you need a good idea of starting numbers. Remember, these little feckers breed like, well, rabbits! As for pigeons, all bird species in the UK are protected. You can shoot pigeons under the "general licence" issued by Natural England for England Natural England General Licence linky That should be of some use. Basically you need to have tried other control methods, and they need to be a pest, a hazard to health or a few other reasons. Quote Link to post Share on other sites

Cheers mat, I've looked into the general license and printed it off to read fully. (ps I'm in Scotland, so read the scottish one) Cheers for the advice, guess i'll need warm clothing!
