Rolfe 2
Just thought i would show a cheap and cheerful quick mink set-up using the wcs tube trap (which are anything but cheap and cheerful) The pictures tell the story really the things to look out for though are to leave a bait chamber at the back which is accessed from the small cover at the rear (this saves taking all the covering off to get at it) and make sure you cut a notch in the side of the trench to allow the set trap to fire sweetly. Obviously you would make a much sturdier construction for a permanent set up but as a temporary set-up it works well. It can only be used where there are no protected species (water voles etc) and can be adapted to take an Imbra or a Mk6 Fenn also. The finished set-up becomes virtually invisible to prying eyes and blends in perfectly with the bankside vegetation no self respecting mink is NOT going to inspect that inviting entrance. Bodygrips are fine in certain situations but i would be afraid the keepers dog would stick his snout in one at this location. By using the tube trap, the bit that bites is out of harms way Quote Link to post

IanB 0
Good post rolfe I'm of the same opinion as logun mind, I'd of just used a mk6 and a bit of ply or even no ply... Same outcome in the end for mr mink if he wanders in... Quote Link to post

Yes i agree Ian............as i said in my original post it can easily be utilised for an Imbra or Mk 6 Fenn as well and if there wasn't dogs about i would have used either of them two options. I just feel a bit safer knowing NO dog is going to get his nose down the tube. A labrador smelling bait at the far end ot the set would bulldose his way through to get at it.........dont want a bodygrip, Imbra, or Fenn hanging off a nose ta very much Quote Link to post

heart of wales 19
Good set up that Rolfe Important around here because of Badger and Otter numbers If they discovered that they would just dig to the back and leave the trap alone like the do with my moletraps Quote Link to post
