Official attendance 133,961 is apparently highest attendance in Europe. long time ago i admit but still the biggest crowd ever recorded at a european game.

gnasher16 30,095
you say london and arsenal, doesnt london have more of a population than scotand ? celtic v rangers reserves that whole weekend was the 3rd highest attendance in britain fact...... and you still havent answered my initial question name me 2 teams who could get suppport in excess of 100,000 or close to 250,000. So we are now to believe Rangers/Celtic are better supported than Barcelona/Real Madrid/Man Utd/Arsenal on a world scale ?.... my answer to that question is yes... who else can you name that would attract such a big crowd ?even tho % of those fans never had tickets and knew they would only be going for a party and to show support for their club on a massive scale... name me a club in the world and i would call you a liar....simples Ok firstly,Londons population is probably a few mill higher than Scotland yes.....however,i wouldnt like to hazard a guess as to the % of that population of which are English/or at least hold an English tradition like football of any value.....for instance, both Chelsea and Arsenal,Londons 2 most succesful teams in todays times have only around 35 % of their week to week supporters who actually reside in London.....so when you take that into account, plus the fact you have clubs such as Spurs,Millwall,Charlton,Palace,QPR,WEST HAM etc etc all getting good attendances every week its easy to see that if London only consisted of those 2 top clubs the figures would easily work out the same. When you say 2 teams who could get support in excess of 100,000......what you mean to walk through the turnstyles or stand about drinking beer and shouting ? with all due respect.....Barcelonas AVERAGE home attendance is i believe a touch above 78,000....Real Madrids just below 70,000.....could they get more,i dont know i dont know the ins and outs of the club....could Arsenal get more, well they have an average 60,000 and a 40,000 waiting list for season tickets, thats without how many more single match day tickets they could sell ....so you do the maths..... You cant seriously think Rangers/Celtic on a world scale are better supported than Barcelona/R Madrid/Man Utd thats just daft !.....how many Rangers shirts do you see when holidaying abroad compared to the clubs ive mentioned, very few ! As regards the reserve game,im not saying your wrong i just find it hard to believe that there were ANY English Premier League games played that day....id be interested to know what the date of that fixture was,if your correct then fair do,s.....but even my little West Ham regularly get 35,000....were no other games played that day Edited March 29, 2011 by gnasher16
gnasher16 30,095
Just thought id delve a little further This is the AVERAGE attendances for domestic games of European clubs....season 08/09 Celtic 9th....Rangers 15th. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Average_attendances_of_European_football_clubs Edited March 29, 2011 by gnasher16
