train him in a confined space not in a big open area, and don't do to much, little and often.

younger the better. Then progress to open areas when your sure he his ready, don't rush him. Make it fun. :thumbs:

Good advice from airbourne.:thumbs:

 

I've always found alleyways ideal for retrieve training, maybe 6ft wide by 20 yards long.
