i would have thought that was standard with any dog ,fella

Aye, or water, does no c**t give their dogs water!!!

whats the fittest a top ranked coursing dog or a top lamped lamping dog,

i mean a lamping dog looking at 40 to 60 bunnies per night 5 nights a week,

or

a top class coursing dog 3 days a week on the fens 6 runs per day,

which would better at a reverse cycle lamping dog coursing or coursing dog lamping

ONE THAT CAN DO BOTH

but we never hear on here about that do we

its one way or the other bit borin really these young uns all beleave a dog is bred for 1 thing be it

rabbit fox hare or deer, pre ban of coarse,

but the fact of the matter i wouldnt have a pet lurcher that couldnt do all before the ban

and in the summer chase and catch a few plastic bags for a bit of fun,

but hey i seen many a lad standing there at the shows in there camo gear in 29 degree heat in august sayin there dogs wouldnt even chase a bag

but the fact of the truth is thy never give em the chance,

I got a saluki x here that has speed to die for and not to give her her full potential over the next few yrs would be sacrilege be it hares in southern ireland or bags in essex she will perform well iam sure

ALRIGHT MATE.

1.30/50KM PER/WK

2.GOOD FOOD

3.WARM KENNELS

4.PLENTY RUB/DOWNS/MASSAGES

5.PATIENCE/TIME

THATS A START. ATB.

Yeah - all of the above but I reckon rest and recovery are both vital. Like any athlete, running dogs need proper and adequate rest and recovery. Sleep for competition athletes is right at the top of the tree and it should be the same for dogs whether they're competitive coursing dogs or hard grafting workers.

Good question........... I suppose it depends on the individual dog whether it could do the other discipline. Preban a lot of rabbit dogs I knew were mostly failed hare dogs and I knew some guys who did both with equal ability, not really exceeding in either. A dog that can consitantly get big numbers of rabbits has to be a total different animal altogether. The mental repetitiveness of that alone would waste a lot of dogs imo. So which is fittest.......which ever one you own

Sorry but i dont agree. Yeah lurchers love to sleep. Yet they will readily go out to work everyday and do hard graft. And if asked of them will carry on into the night and go lamping. A fit lurcher anyway.. quite a few times we go on 4 and 5 day walking sessions, the animals only get as much sleep as us..

Put the two together, making sure they are what they say they are, and you shouldn't go far wrong.

Coursing Bitch x Lamping Dog.
