Golden eye ointment or Optrex now do eye drops you can buy over the counter for infected eyes, it contains Chloramphenicol the same ingredient in most of the ointments a vet prescribes

To get the one with anti-biotics don't say its for your dog say your other half has conjunctivitus otherwise they might say no

Very good advice. It is illegal for chemists to supply anything for animal use. If you say its for you or the other half its fine. Usually they don't even ask unless its on prescription so don't say anything.

this is true, believe it or not the laws governing animal medicines are way more strict than those for human's, mainly in the food chain sector,

Also try mastitis tubes if you live near a dairy farmer, they contain, antibiotics and work great.

snap.

I dissolved a teaspoon if salt in a mug of boiling water with 2 x Teabags and when it cooled I bathed his eye with it 3 times a day.

Just gone out to him and eye is bright and clear.

Will bathe for another day just to be safe.

While in here - My JRT bitch has got about 8 small scabs like pin pricks in her ear, inside but towards the tip of ear. The ear is hotter to the touch than the other. What could it be? I thought maybe my lurcher has chewed on it or ahe scratched it bushing?

I dabbed it with TCP last night to clean it.

Gaz.

If you use him for bushing, then I'd bet its from that. Just keep an eye on them if he's not uncomfortable with his ears then its probably nothing, but if you see him start tilting his head or shake his head a lot then get him to the vet to have it looked at.

It does sound like nothing though, my terriers all have scratches and scabs on the flaps of their ears from time to time, so I doubt it's much to worry about.
